Chicago police say they’ve reviewed hundreds of hours of footage from downtown surveillance cameras but haven’t found footage yet of the alleged attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.
The department said in a news release late Tuesday that detectives reviewed footage from privately-owned cameras near where Smollett says he was attacked and will broaden their search by reviewing footage from traffic cameras and public bus cameras.
Smollett told police he was walking downtown near the Chicago River at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday when two masked men hurled racial and homophobic slurs at him, beat him, threw an “unknown substance” on him and put a rope around his neck.

Yeah the story is bunk. Only thing proven on camera is he was walking alone at/near the Subway store. Everything else is fake.

Smollett initially was “reluctant” to call police because of the attention he would generate as a public figure, Guglielmi said. But his manager eventually called at 2:42 a.m., about 40 minutes after the attack.
When officers showed up at the apartment, the rope was still around Smollett’s neck, said Guglielmi, who described the rope as a “thin, light rope.” Guglielmi said the rope didn’t necessarily resemble a noose.
Anyone with a MAGA hat would be in bed at 2:00am because he would have to be at work in a couple of hours.
Latest reports are the “rope” was clothesline string right out of the package and it wasn’t tied in the form of a noose.
The reports are all stressing that the attackers yelled “This is MAGA country”.
This all allegedly happened after Smollett left a friend’s house in the area to get some Subway.
My guess is either a planned hoax or one concocted on the fly to cover for a boyfriend beatdown.

By the way, Smollett was on some panel discussion with Al Sharpton just a few days ago and Sharpton today is calling on President Trump to condemn this alleged attack.
