House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer are holding a press conference shortly after President Trump announced a deal to reopen the federal government. The House and Senate are expected to vote on a continuing resolution (CR) that will keep the government open for three weeks to negotiate over funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and a border wall or barrier. ... After refusing for over a month to sign any government funding bill without money for a wall, Mr. Trump agreed to sign a bill to reopen the government without wall funding. The CR will include $1.3 billion for border security, and is essentially the deal that the GOP-controlled Senate in December before the shutdown began (this resolution would be in effect until Feb. 15, rather than Feb. 8, the date agreed upon in the December deal). The House and Senate will also establish a conference committee to continue bipartisan, bicameral negotiations over border security.

My understanding is that Trump offered them the same deal on dec 8th. If they took it he gave nothing up and the dems had this bill in hand and didnt have to shut down the gov but did. Not sure but I think they caved.
Thank you. All the "Trump is DONE!!" defeatist assholes around here can't seem to pull their sorry heads out of their asses and realize Trump is pushing hard on this and it is CONGRESS since 1986 who have been failing us and our border. Not Trump, CONGRESS.

BTW...Rush ‘suggested’ that the reason Pelosi doesn’t want the SOTU is she knows the ‘Freshman Class’ is planning some kind of protest - not within the guidelines or what is supposed to be a ‘non-partisan’ event with the only recent break in policy was the guy that shouted out liar to the then pResident Obama.
Others have also suggested that she doesn’t want the vacant Ginsburg seat up either...(They could always plagiarize a ‘Weekend at Bernies’ scenario)
PDJT should ‘thank’ R Ginsberg for her many years of service and devotion and ‘suggest’ she spend the rest of her life with her family etc.
PDJT should also point out the consequences if those two grinning idiots (Schumer & Pelosi) renege on the ‘deal’.
Schumer had the unmitigated gall to stand up with N Pelosi at his side suggesting SHE TAUGHT PDJT A LESSON!.
Now Pelosi is the ‘conquering hero’, she’s untouchable now.
Agree. In three weeks time I believe he is planning to declare a National Emergency, seize the 5.7 billion and start building the wall - as the demoncrates show that they refuse to compromise one iota and try to screw him again.
He can then say “Well I tried to do it their way and look where it got us. Nowhere. Now its my way.”
And, maybe at the same time, fire Mueller, Wray and the rest of the Deep State staff infecting the Executive Branch of Govt.
He will fry them at the state of the union and announce a security emergency and he is building the wall with army core of engineers

Then sign a continuing resolution back in December and rest on your laurels. Don't shut down the government and come up empty handed.
There is no way to paint this but a win for the Democrats. Trump blinked. He has no way of getting anything through the house that he wants. He may as well call an emergency and fight it out in the courts. He has a better chance than doing anything with the House of Rep.

You don't know political jujitsu when you see it. Trump just snoockered the Dems by removing their objections to negotiating with him, and he captured the high ground in the process.
He looks like a saint tonight, while Pelosi and Schumer look like utter fools.
That isn't the picture the media is painting. Never forget, folks who think like us are in the minority compared with the Sheeple, who simply go along with what the media tells them.
And that's why Hillary is president today.

People hated Hillary, it wasn’t a political thing as much as her unlike ability in general.
We got damn lucky she was the nominee.
Blah blah blah - Trump is setting the stage where either the Congress does its job or he goes it alone - and waits out the Courts as long as it takes to get SCOTUS to either do the right thing or tell us we have no Constitutional Representative Republic anymore..
