Considering the fake information was probably leaked out of his team, he is covering his ass...
Sessions is no longer AG....someone in the DOJ might wonder what Buzzfeed sources are...and who leaked it...
I think Meuller had to act. since this is the first time I would venture to guess something big is approaching. Meuller needed to head something off or he would not had spoken.
As Mark Levin said, the only possible source of the leak to BuzzFeed is Mueller’s office. It’s happened before. So they REALLY don’t want an investigation of how BuzzFeed got the fake story.

According to Buzz Feed their sources were 2 investigators from the FBI. Before talking to the press aren’t they required to get clearance from their supervisor on what information they can release ?
While I did not offer speculation on the serious political
implications this has Mark Levin did.
Mueller is following in Comey’s extralegal footsteps.
David Webb (master of White Privilege) is hosting for Ingram tonite. He’s reviewing the issue pretty well. I still believe Mueller et all are in cya mode.
