The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire) written in 1945 by Robert Wells and Mel Tormé.

The Nat King Cole Trio first recorded the song in the spring of 1946. At Cole's behest – and over the objections of his label, Capitol Records – a second recording was made later the same year utilizing a small string section, this version becoming a massive hit on both the pop and R&B charts.

Cole again recorded the song in 1953, using the same arrangement with a full orchestra arranged and conducted by Nelson Riddle.

Cole recorded it once more in 1961, in a stereophonic version with another full orchestra arranged and conducted by Ralph Carmichael. Cole's 1961 version is generally regarded as definitive, and in 2004 was the most-loved seasonal song with women aged 30–49.

Good for you! I saw them five times, way back when.

One of my faves of theirs: Oh La La (Poor Old Grand Dad)

Lot of good stuff from them, they are a much under rated band.

Hi Fatima.

I had trouble with this week’s options. I will pick “Cuts You Up” by Peter Murphy.

My dad claimed he saw Journey on the same week as Genesis back in the early 80’s in L.A. I would give top money to see Steve Perry front Journey just one time..

One of the best voices ever belonged to the late Soloman Burke. This song has been covered by many, But Burke's version excellent.

Out of Reach (of my two Open Arms) - Soloman Burke

Note: It is sung as "Two empty arms", but the title above is correct

Not one of my favorites but I really like Tommy Emmanuel.

Dixie was the daughter of Duncan McGuire, the bassist in a band Tommy played with and that Tommy babysat occasionally and this is a instrumental he wrote about the rambunctious child.
