WASHINGTON - Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez toppled a well-established Democratic leader in a stunning primary upset last year - now she's looking to spur others to do the same.
In a promotional video for Justice Democrats, the grassroots group that backed Ocasio-Cortez's 2018 upstart run against Joe Crowley, a 10-term incumbent.
Under the program, activists can nominate potential candidates for the group's backing. In the video, Ocasio-Cortez recounts how she was nominated by her brother and became interested in running while participating in environmental protests with Native Americans activists at the Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota.
"Everybody knows someone in their life that is already an amazing public servant," Ocasio-Cortez says in the video. "Nominate that amazing public servant to take their service to the halls of Congress. Give them that nudge."
Ocasio-Cortez's participation in the Justice Democrats' program could be a source of tension on the Hill, where members backing primaries against their colleagues is rare.
"There's a lot of people in the Democratic caucus. When we are courageous enough to just puncture the silence on an issue, they will start to move," Ocasio-Cortez says in the video.
Already, the group is publicly searching for a primary challenger to centrist Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas. Cuellar has defended his record, arguing his district features "more moderate, conservative Democrats."
"The reason we want to keep doing Democrat vs. Democrat primaries is because it's a way to move the Democratic Party in a more progressive direction and make Democrats more accountable to their base and not just corporate donors," Waleed Shahid, spokesman for Justice Democrats, told NBC News.

Absolutely. Her type has been thoroughly indoctrinated. Making the mistake that she is "dumb" because she does not understand Government or economics does not mean she does not fully vest herself in her beliefs and what has been imprinted on her; right or wrong, correct or not. I bet it would not take much to convince her killing 25 million Americans is the "right" thing to do, ergo, Ayers. Hell, the old guard Dem's better be careful if she and her type think they are getting in the way of their progress..

But, as with obama, this may not be at all that bad. obama turned up the heat so the frog noticed, and now we have Trump. This little witch will turn up the heat even more, which will likely bring things to a head. Heaven forbid, I do not want to see CWII, but this little Che Quevara-ette just might help get that going and we can have our long awaited cultural correction.

I think she is dangerous because I deal with a lot of Millenials and she reflects the beliefs of around 80% of them.
She represents the future unless we can find some way to reach them. In twenty years she will be considered mainstream.

Progressives have been around since 1881 or there abouts....along about February of 1929 the Labor Age began, a compilation of both Socialism and Communism began in earnest by promising free this and that with time off for vacations etc.
