Build the invisible wall to complement the physical one
American Thinker ^ | 01/15/2019 | David Barulich

While a physical border barrier is important, it is even more important to eliminate the incentives to draw illegal aliens even to try to cross the border. Democrats will have a harder time explaining why we shouldn't increase taxes on corporations that hire illegal aliens than why a border barrier is "immoral."

While waiting out the Democrats over the partial government shutdown, President Trump could deliver a digital wall to stem illegal immigration by using a tool already at his disposal: the U.S. Tax Code.

Trump could simply direct the IRS to favor American businesses that hire persons legally permitted to work in the U.S. This policy – call it "affirmative wage deduction" (AWD) – would cause an instant exodus of illegal aliens, potentially recoup billions of dollars in federal tax subsidies, and turn off the employment magnet that now draws thousands of aliens to breach our borders.

To do this, Trump should direct the Internal Revenue Service to redefine the terms "eligible wage and vendor deductions" under the tax code to require verification through an existing online database called the E-Verify System, compiled and operated by the Social Security Administration.

E-Verify contains each enrollee's birth date, place of birth, address, and Social Security number, along with other personal data.

Under the new definition, any employer who wishes to reduce its taxable income by deducting payments to employees or independent contractors would use E-Verify to determine if those payees are "confirmed" or "tentatively non-confirmed" as legally able to work in the U.S.

As with computer security, you need a layered approach. The wall is only part of it.

I agree in principle, however, I would want a means for a business to “prove” that their employees were legal. If every business used the E-Verify system, then the vast majority of illegals would not be able to get jobs. So, I would recommend your action but add a means for the business to show that they have used the E-Verify system for each employee. A confirmation number perhaps?

The democrats on the other hand have been employing a ‘layered approach’ to incentivizing illegal migration for a long time.

There is an extensive system at the border. I saw a blimp watching the border form Sierra Vista Arizona. There were low flying planes all night also. I assume they all had infrared and other camera systems also. I would also suspect a satellite parked over the border. The demonicats have been in charge of the government for 50 years and their crime syndicate is will entrenched.

—as I have often remarked , the employer who hires illegals should go to jail simultaneously with his company going out of business due to heavy fines-—

Landmines too; brain-scrambling microwaves would also be good. Meaning: “Stay the hell away!”

Deny any benefits at all and they’ll self deport.

Interesting approach, although I’d think that aggressive enforcement of the use of e-Verify would be better.

Good article pointed out additional strategies to stop the invasion. To that I would recommend 5 years in prison for knowing hiring an illegal alien.

E-Verify could be a very important part of border security. But it needs to become mandatory with stiff fines for employers who don’t use it.

"I saw a blimp watching the border form Sierra Vista Arizona. There were low flying planes all night also. I would also suspect a satellite parked over the border."

The blimp is an Aerostat, which is tethered in place. Like the planes, they are grounded in bad weather.

Satellites are immune from wind conditions, but they belong to the Military and other Government agencies. The Military and Intelligence Community should be formally tasked (and resourced) with providing DHS with additional situational awareness and tracking support from space, as well as investigating and eliminating all organizations involved in cross-border crime.

They could expand the control zone around the border to 100 miles on both sides with dedicated satellites.
