The Nattering Nabobs of Negativism here on fr need to go be a turd-in-the-punchbowl somewhere else. Let us do our grassroots thing in joy, please. Whether it works or not, it’s sending one hell of a message, and it’s worth it just for the splodey heads.

So please, go away, negative fund police (not you). Spread your clouds of doom elsewhere.

Just another reminder that like Fox, the New York Post is NOT your friend either. This is bull s%it! There are several ways this money can be spent to help build the wall. Bricks are not the only vital commodity in this project. This is just an attempt pour cold water on this project. If you voted for Trump vote for him again with a donation to this Go Fund Me.

Cards against humanity bought land on the border to prevent the wall. https://cardsagainsthumanitystopsthewall.com/.

Seems like anyone should be able to buy land and put up a wall (after all the environmental impact studies and other BS cards is counting on to prevent the wall on their property). It may not be the best place to start the wall, but any private portion is that much less the government eventually needs to do.

. “Obviously, we can’t let citizens raise money and say, ‘The government will spend my money on this purpose.’”

Goodlatte is going to need to adjust his thinking and get more creative in his thinking.
Not to mention he's got it the other way round. What we can't have is a minority in the US Senate, stopping the funding of a vital US border wall, because of some unconstitutional, arcane US Senate rules.

OK, like an adult then.

“Specific federal agencies can’t touch this funding without a congressional appropriation.”

Then Congress can do this. Why not?

I’m not sure the house would’ve voted 5, billion for the wall if this go fund me hadn’t started. The people were speaking with their wallets and put Congress to shame. So no matter what happens with this money this effort has served a great purpose.

Surprises GoFu**Me hasn’t already pulled the plugh.

Wouldn't make much of any difference. There are lots of conservative crowdfunding alternatives.

I understand there are private individuals who own property on the border. They can be assisted in building their own wall.

No refund is needed. Just donate the funds to Homeland Security’s memorial Fund for ICE officers killed on the job. The money will get to the wall projects.Simply declare the wall a memorial project to satisfy the law on Charities, name sections of the wall after deceased officers.

NO PROBLEMO

$10,831,266 of $1.0B goal Raised by 177,878 people in 4 days

Even if the 1 billion goal is achieved, it won't pay for the wall. If the President is serious about building a wall at a minimum cost to American taxpayers, he needs to push through a tax on remittances sent by Mexican and Central American nationals to their home country. That should have been at the top of the agenda 2 years ago.

The main purpose of this statement is to kill the effort. If people think any money raised goes into a general fund it wil stop donations cold.

What in the Hell did these IDIOTS think that WAR BONDS were for?

People bought WAR BONDS to fight a massive pair of wars -—on 2 separate fronts.

Those WAR BONDS were for one purpose & one purpose only-—and American citizens bought them by the millions.

Have we got nothing but SNOWFLAKES running this country???

"Specific federal agencies can’t touch this funding without a congressional appropriation."

It seems to me that if enough citizens of a sovereign country want to build something withing their own borders and are willing to pay for it a government that supposedly serves at the will of the people would not attempt to stand in their way. Perhaps the Tree of Liberty requires some watering.

There may be serious tax implications to that, but I’m not an accountant.

Well if they don’t spend it on the wall, I say let’s spend it on campaigns for replacement representatives and senators who will.

Has anyone ever heard the stories about WHERE the money you donate to the Red Cross actually goes to?

I have actual stories from a Search & Rescue neighbor who spent days in the N Calif forests looking for some missing kids along with many others. Red Cross showed up. Table with coffee & donuts was set up. He went to get a coffee & a couple of donuts & the Red Cross lady told him they WERE NOT FREE....HE HAD TO PAY FOR THEM. He had been out for days—away from his business—looking for those kids. He was dumbstruck. I know for a fact that he is fairly consistent with donations to causes he believes in. He NEVER donated another penny to the Red Cross.

Also-—Red Cross give BONUSES to District Managers. Based upon the amount of donations made to that area.

When San Diego fires happened a few years back, thousands of people donated money & goods and animal feed. People RAN down roads into ranches & led out horses—some 4 at a time. One man who was a long distance runner, with horse experience, made 3 trips into one ranch & brought out 4e, then 6, then 3. Horses were used for long distance events & were used to being led at a trot. He would hand the horses over to the line of trailers at the top of the canyom, and go back down. It was a huge response. That ‘District Manager’ got a bonus of $400,000 because so much had been donated due to those fires.

I don’t think people are donating to the Red Cross to see which District Manager can get a big fat bonus.
