Several years back, the University of Kentucky, Louisville, conducted a study on the issues facing America. The findings? What SA should have done after becoming a unified country around 1900 or so was give the existing blacks full citizenship and equal protection and rights, education, etc. then completely restricted immigration to Europeans and maybe other Africans who wanted to become civilized people.

The US model for blacks didn't start until the 1960s. Prior to that, blacks had strong united families, they yearned to be educated. Even blacks like Booker T Washington asked for a simply compromise, where blacks can have basic rights and educational/job opportunities in exchange for not getting lynched or beaten every 5 seconds.

If SA would have given blacks basic rights and freedom, apartheid wouldn't have happened, the Mandelas would have probably become Christian teachers instead of Communist thugs, and the ANC would have been a JFK-type Democrat party. SA, already being the richest and most powerful country in Africa, would have probably shot up in the top #5 of wealthy and powerful countries in the world now.

That's an old wives' tale. There were blacks living in SA at the time of the nation's founding. They continued to exist within the country even though, true, they had no ownership to the land. But instead of treating them like dirt, why didn't the whites simply expel them, or at least worked to make them into citizens?
