Apple Grows In Austin Texas Ping!

Apple announced Thursday that it will open a new campus in Austin, Texas, where it estimates about 15,000 jobs will be created across a variety of fields including engineering and finance.
The tech giant said in a statement that it would spend $1 billion to build the campus in north Austin, at a location less than a mile from existing Apple facilities.
A 133-acre facility will initially employ 5,000 workers, the company said, adding that the planned expansion is predicted to make Apple the largest employer in the city.
“Apple is among the world’s most innovative companies and an avid creator of jobs in Texas and across the country,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said in a statement. “Their decision to expand operations in our state is a testament to the high-quality workforce and unmatched economic environment that Texas offers."
"I thank Apple for this tremendous investment in Texas, and I look forward to building upon our strong partnership to create an even brighter future for the Lone Star State," he continued.
“Apple has been a vital part of the Austin community for a quarter century, and we are thrilled that they are deepening their investment in our people and the city we love,” Mayor Steve Adler (D) added in the release.
"We’re excited they are bringing more middle-skilled jobs to the area," Adler continued. "And we’re particularly gratified by their commitment to providing a great place to work for a large and growing number of America's veterans.”
The company added that it plans to open new facilities employing hundreds of workers each in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, Calif., while expanding existing Apple locations in Pittsburgh, New York and Boulder, Colo.
Apple says that the plans are in line with its announcement in January to employ 20,000 U.S. workers by 2023. The company currently employs 9,000 workers in the U.S.
“Apple is proud to bring new investment, jobs and opportunity to cities across the United States and to significantly deepen our quarter-century partnership with the city and people of Austin,” Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, said in the release.
“Talent, creativity and tomorrow’s breakthrough ideas aren’t limited by region or zip code, and, with this new expansion, we’re redoubling our commitment to cultivating the high-tech sector and workforce nationwide.”
Another tech giant, Amazon, recently announced its decision to split its new headquarters -- along with 50,000 jobs -- between New York and suburban Washington, D.C.
“They are high-end engineering and finance jobs that require an educated workforce.”
Oh, you mean to tell me that Apple prefers to hire educated workers and thus discriminates against the uneducated in their hiring?

One report indicted that Apple has almost $300 BILLION ! on hand as cash and Texas gave them $10B in tax benefits to pollute the region with 5,000 more leftwing nitwits with money burning a hole in their pockets. We really are selling our nooses to the commies.

That statistic is completely wrong by an order of magnitude. Apple currently employs 80,000 in the US and is targeting 200,000 by 2023.
No, Apple is only one of over ~500 consumer electronics companies that contracts with Taiwanese Hon Hai subsidiary Foxconn to assemble their CE products. It is the largest of Foxconn’s customers, but the employees are Foxconns working for Foxconn under contract, not Apple’s employees.
Here is a partial list of 71 of FoxConn's customers I've been able to compile from news articles where their contractural relationships were mentioned over the past few years:
Apple is the only major CE manufacturer which manufactures and assembles computers in the US. It manufactures its Apple Mac Pro computers in Austin, Texas, and assembles iMacs in Elk Grove, California. All of Apple’s products are designed and engineered in the US. Care to reconsider your claim?

And you're totally wrong, spreading fake news. Apple has no manufacturing workers in China; just sales employees for their stores and distribution.
Look up HP,Dell, IBM, Microsoft etc. and you'll find they have more workers in China - and their workers are in sweatshop conditions, not so with contracted workers building components for Apple. And lots of Apple components are made in the USA, unlike those other "American" companies.
As for Austin, lots of chips are already made there for Apple devices, as well as Macs. Now where do those other companies make their computers? (Sound of crickets...)
I see you feel the need to devolve to the obligatory ad hominem insult approach to argument when you have no facts to bolster your unsupported opinion. You just ignore the 80,000 employees Apple has in the United States and its planned expansion to 200,000 by 2023, including manufacturing jobs. Apple is not owned by Chinese, it’s not managed by Chinese, and Apple has assembly contractors in China, India, Ireland, Vietnam, Japan, Brazil, the United States, Europe, and many other places in the world.
I doubt you bothered to look at the list I provided with bolded emphasis US electronics assembled by Foxconn, you ignored that so you could continue your Apple bashing despite the fact I provided you that Apple IS THE. ONLY MAJOR COMPUTER MANUFACTURER MAKING ANY OF ITS PRODUCTS IN THE UNITED STATES! You ignored that so you could push your lie.
