Absentee vote changes may have invited ‘ballot harvesting’ [NC]
Associated Press ^ | December 7, 2018 | Gary D. Robertson

Changes made to absentee voting procedures five years ago in North Carolina may have emboldened workers to run the type of illegal “ballot-harvesting” operation alleged to have been used in a disputed congressional race, election experts and lawmakers said.

Some observers are concerned that the changes made it possible for more people to apply for absentee ballots. Then so-called harvesters could collect unsealed ballots and manipulate them or throw out ones from minority voters who might have otherwise gone to the polls.

The heavily Republican Legislature crafted the 2013 law that scaled back some voting options amid a national GOP push for voter ID laws and other restrictions they said were aimed at preventing in-person voting fraud, which experts say is rare. Many provisions were struck down in court, but unchallenged absentee changes may have opened wider a door to possible widespread fraud.

“It could have exacerbated the problem,” Republican state Sen. Tommy Tucker said this week. He and other state legislators believe more absentee ballot restrictions may be necessary.

Investigators are scrutinizing mail-in ballot requests and ballot envelopes in the 9th Congressional District — a process that could lead to criminal charges or even a new election. Republican Mark Harris leads Democrat Dan McCready by 905 votes out of nearly 283,000 cast. The focus appears to be on Bladen and Robeson counties. …

Outrageous, suddenly there is a whole structure of voter fraud because it hurts a republican. Before this, all allegations were racist and “without evidence”.

Biased reporter. There’s no way to tell a “minority voter” from any other voter by looking at an absentee ballot.

And the DemoKKKrat Media is still whistling past the #Carolinafornia stuff (The Big Orange County Steal).

Nothing to see there. Move along. Only Republicans do it.

Even though the GOP won I suspect this leads back to the Dems. So I think they should investigate.

Of course investigate.

This could be an event that stops it nationwide.

Classic demonrat tactic, accuse opposition of what they already did in California, for instance.

I'll trade you one Dowless for two Democrat operatives doing the same thing.
It all started with the Democrat Bladen County Improvement Group

“There’s no way to tell a “minority voter” from any other voter by looking at an absentee ballot.”

Unless you harvest it in person.

Conspiring in Manufacturing (or stealing) votes is a Civil Rights crime.

Needs to get 10 years in Federal hard time prison and $1 million fine (FOR EACH OCCURRENCE)

Fixing the voting system to prevent it needs to be a high priority.

True. But according to Hillary you can't tell them apart in person either because THEY ALL LOOK ALIKE.

The ballots are collected in person. It is much more likely that DemocRats will collect and dispose of ballots from predominately white, middle class neighborhoods.

Trump’s three goals to focus 95% of his time on for the next two years:

1. Building the wall
2. Getting a handle on election reform
3. Eliminating welfare for illegals

Why do they focus on one Republican in NC when the ballot harvesting fiasco was wildly and obviously present all over California?

Well all I can say is the Democrats used Ballot Harvesting in California which caused a lot of the Republicans to lose at the last minute....

Because the California legislature and the Governor passed a law making it legal to do in California what is still illegal to do in North Carolina. It's legal in California (in spite of the law saying the election must be held on the first Tuesday in November) to vote absentee after the election and for third parties to take those absentee ballots to the vote-counting centers. In other words, if you have a close race in California and the Republican in winning, in the next few days after the election you send people around to those who haven't voted (as in California it's open information if you voted or not) and who have registered as Democrat or are in a heavily Democrat demographic, have them fill out a ballot (or fill it out for them), bundle it with similar ones - enough to change the outcome - and presto-chango, the Republican loses and the Democrat wins.

By concentrating on the NC incident (and ensuring that it gets lots of news coverage), the average know-nothing voter will learn to associate “voter fraud” with “Republicans”. It neutralizes the issue for Dems. And if we try to raise awareness of voter fraud in 2020, it’ll actually cause negative blowback for Republicans.

It’s a tried & true Dem tactic. Works like a charm every time.
