Teacher tells the truth and gets fired. Figures.

Raise a child to believe in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and the Great Pumpkin. Then the child learns one by one they are myths.

Tell the child about Jesus, and the child thinks to himself, “Sure, I’ll go along with this for a while.”

And we wonder why atheism is growing in America.

Your statement appears to express the conclusion that a child who believes in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and The Great Pumpkin (did not know Linus proselytized) leads to atheism. I will have to disagree.

The aforementioned childhood characters cease to exist when a child learns it has been the parents all along. Consider this; parents can never fulfill the promise of Jesus Christ (forgiveness of sins and eternal life). If parents cannot meet the promise of Christ, how does believing in any childhood character leads to atheism? Atheism is rebellion against God, not the fault of Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, or The Great Pumpkin. Not all children that grew-up with believing in these characters are atheists as adults.

Christian parents grounded on the Bible should have little difficulty in having their children first understand and later have faith in Christ after exposing their children to the aforementioned characters. I do not have empirical evidence to convince analytical minds yet have the witness of my Bride’s and my own family’s multiple generations as well as those families of the many Christian churches I have been a member of throughout my many years of moving while in the Service.

There is something about the innocence of childhood which needs to be preserved until their minds and hearts are ready to deal with the cold hard realities of life. A parent’s love to a child demonstrated via gifts from a mythical second party is harmless in my mind. Particularly when the child learns it was a selfless act from their parent.

Regards.

Satan is the father of lies, and you are saying that lying to your children is a good thing. OK then.

Here is my explanation of Santa: Santa is the spirit of Christmas which is the concept of giving without expecting something in return. It works whether there is a man in a red suit or not.

Your inference is incorrect. I did not advocate lying to as rearing parental technique nor as a routine way of dealing with children. Despite your absolutist and assuming diction, no one is perfect; Romans 3:23. Notwithstanding that truth, forgiveness is at hand. Even for you.

Oh, I've sought and accepted Christ's forgiveness. I've also sought to obey and not continue spreading the lies of the world.

Since you insist, I’ll play.

I will assume by your handle you are, or once were, in the Air Force? Or were you just “wanna be”?

Since using such a handle would be tantamount to pretending to be something you are not which would be lying (and we know how opposed to lying you are), I will assume you are or were in the Air Force at some point in your life.

So, if you were in the Air Force, and appear to be proud of it enough to use it as a handle, let’s then assume you were at least inside the air frame since the odds of any Air Force person being at the “stick” are very low.

Ok then, if you were inside the air frame AND if you were in any combat mission were killing enemies was the objective, then that makes you a murderer by choice since you did not have to volunteer. And in the case you are old enough to have been drafted, you could have been a conscientious objector.

Ergo, by your rationale, every military member ever involved in actual combat is a murderer by choice just like any parent who introduces Santa Claus, or any other gifting character, to their child is a liar.

I went through this exercise not to denigrate yet to point out how life’s choices are not as clear or damming as you want to make them. BTW, I have been in combat.

In the end we will all be judged by God for our own individual sins and not by other mortals. No matter how holy and mighty any human may think they are, they should not judge others (Matthew 7:5).

Have a Blessed weekend.
