WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday rebuffed a challenge by three conservation groups to the authority of President Donald Trumps administration to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, a victory for Trump who has made the wall a centerpiece of his hardline immigration policies.
The justices declined to hear the groups appeal of a ruling by a federal judge in California rejecting their claims that the administration had pursued border wall projects without complying with applicable environmental laws. The groups are the Center for Biological Diversity, the Animal Legal Defense Fund and Defenders of Wildlife.
Their lawsuits said construction operations would harm plants, rare wildlife habitats, threatened coastal birds like the snowy plover and California gnatcatcher, and other species such as fairy shrimp and the Quino checkerspot butterfly.
Trump has clashed with U.S. lawmakers, particularly Democrats, over his plans for an extensive and costly border wall that he has called necessary to combat illegal immigration and drug smuggling.

The damage caused by the drug mules & illegals walking into his country for years far exceeds the damage from ‘building the WALL.
These ‘leaders’ should put their money where their mouth is & actually Go & SEE he trails of debris, diapers, and many other ‘pollutants’.
I’ve never understood why parentheses are acceptable in mathematical groupings but not written text; most likely there is no intonation/inflection to indicate such.
I know you guys are correct about , and. Im probably dating myself but its just isnt the way I was taught. And it could be that the rule has been in place for a long time and I had bad teachers.
BTW, is it OK to start a sentence with AND? It wasnt allowed by my teachers but I do it all the time. Same with sentence fragments.
Maybe I should go back to school.
In my opinion, the most difficult apostrophe situation is “its” and “it’s.” It is difficult to remember which is which. So my personal rule is, never use the contraction, never use the apostrophe.
Not using the apostrophe is just as bad as misusing it. It is very easy: its is possessive, and its is a contraction.
No, it is not ever correct to begin a sentence with “and”. Possibly excepting close personal conversation, but PLEASE do not cite me, as I’m sure the nuns would have my hide...

All of the militant environmental groups mentioned have their roots in their cultish worship of Edward Abbey, a radical wack job environmentalist who was also a true misogynist, an alcoholic, and a drug abuser. Abbey is a very interesting and eloquent writer, but the content of his writings is disturbing. He advocated vandalizing electric utility transmission lines and blowing up both Hoover and Glen Canyon dams.
These environmental groups are as crazy and hateful as Edward Abbey was.
LOL. I absolutely agree with you about AND not being allowed for starting a sentence.
And, since no one is grading my Freeper posts, Im just going to keep starting sentences that way.
...a challenge by three conservation groups to the authority... to build a wall... without complying with applicable environmental laws. The groups are the Center for Biological Diversity, the Animal Legal Defense Fund and Defenders of Wildlife.
IOW, the CBD, ALDF, and DoW have nothing to do with environmental issues, conservation, or animal welfare.
