Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), a Democratic Socialist who won election to Congress in the 2018 midterm election, said on Thursday that she would like a seat on the House Financial Services Committee — a powerful committee that oversees the country’s financial sector. “I think with our district, we can be ambitious, so we’re kind of swinging for the fences on committees,” Ocasio-Cortez told HillTV. “We might as well ask for something big.”

The Financial Services panel is one of the most sought-after House committees. Its members wield significant influence over Washington’s relationship with Wall Street, and the panel offers access to millions of dollars in financial sector campaign donations.
The committee is also is expected to lead several investigations into President Trump’s personal finances, along with potential connections between his businesses and Russian oligarchs.
The Hill noted in its report that the committee is a popular assignment with New York-based lawmakers, but freshmen members are rarely rewarded with a seat.

Pelosi isn't stupid. The days of the Old Guard Democrat; white geriatric millionaires from palatial gated communities, are coming to a close. The new Democratic Party looks like AOC. It looks like Ilhan Omar. It looks like Rashida Tlaib. Young, brown, angry, militant, intersectional, unapologetically socialist. They're going to take over the party. They'll be the ones deciding who gets powerful committee chairs.
The Democratic Party is owned by the same Wall Street money that has been buying members of Congress forever. Unless they toe the “Old Guard Democrat” party line, those brown dingbats aren’t going to take over the Democratic Party any more than the Freedom Caucus is going to take over the GOP.
The difference is that the Freedom Caucus couldn't get a dozen supporters to show up and protest. For the new brown dingbats, however, a couple of tweets is all it would take and they could have a thousand people on the streets in Washington DC tomorrow lighting cars on fire.

Every “Democrat” in Congress is either a socialist, an envirofascist, a Trotskyite, or a Stalinist. Every one.

The thing is, you see, is that comte members get to pal around with bankers and Wall Street, and by some mysterious process their individual worth grows by leaps and bounds to millions of dollars. Freshman congresspersons are assigned to the Latrine Duty Committee and such.
Of course, AOC probably thinks she deserves to be Speaker of the House, or perhaps Empress.
Isn’t there a committee that can be formed for young new guberment people to visit foreign countries and straighten them out?
She should be assigned to Venezuela to show them where they went wrong with socialism and how to correct it to be a shining example for the world to see.
