Sec. Ryan Zinke Backs Trump: Years of Mismanagement Led to California Fires
Breitbart ^ | 19 Nov 2018 | Michelle Moons

Posted on 11/19/2018 6:26:26 AM PST by Mr. Mojo

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke backed President Donald Trump on the years of forest mismanagement that led to the California fires as Zinke joined Breitbart News Sunday radio with host Amanda House.

He suggested that even photos of the devastation don’t do justice to what it was like to see it in person. Pointing to years of neglect and dead and dying timber, he observed, “It was like a flamethrower of embers shooting through the forests.”

“The president is absolutely right. This is as much about mismanagement over time,” said Zinke who pointed to not only the previous administration but that the problem had been “going on for years.” He suggested going “back to prescribed burns late in the season,” removed dead and dying timber, and sustainable harvest. He pointed to Finland and Germany as examples.

He said “radical environmentalists” have filed lawsuits to let “nature take its course” and that these fires are the consequence of allowing nature to do so.

“I will lay this on the foot of those environmental radicals that have prevented us from managing the forests for years and, you know what, this is on them.”

I worked in CO a few years ago. Now get this. The guy who took the stewardship contract got paid 1200 bucks an acre to clear cut bug killed pine. THEN, they started up a peckerwood mill in Eaton Co to saw that crap and the corporation that started that mill used that rotten wood to build trusses for housing.

1200 bucks an acre and bought back the rotten wood at 20 bucks a load. Sawed it up and built trusses out of the crap. I took a 2X4 8 foot long and snapped it across my knee it was that strong.

OH, and the dude who had the contract? He went bankrupt. Was a former rancher that thought he could become a logger. Didnt have a clue.

The eco freaks have shut down the industry to the point where there is no market for the timber. All that unmerch timber should be ground up and fed into a bio mass boiler to make electric power. In Co alone there would have been enough fuel to power the state for years. I dont know about Montana, but I suspect its the same there. Got two brothers living up there.

Take a look under solutions and examples under that drop down. Take a look at the cost savings over gas and oil.

I’ve heard but not confirmed via research, that Native Americans use to do control burning in order to prevent so many fires.

Your the one who claims you didnt want to hear from anyone who builds in a such areas.

OK and areas of TX and KS are fire prone areas also..

What about earthquake prone areas huh?

Or along rivers. I guess we should eliminate Memphis Tenn then right? Or St Louis right? After all, those are not only Flood areas, they are earthquake prone AND tornado prone.

The Indians would burn areas to benefit wildlife. Get the feed stock back up etc.

And Old Growth forest is actually a forested desert. No brows no cover, nothing.

Read about the trip they took up to Canada from New England during the French and Indian wars. The militiamen starved on the way back.

The horrific fiery deaths of hundreds of people were caused by Jerry Brown, Nancy Pelosi and all the environmentalists taking sides. They took the side of grubs and moths and let their fellow human beings die on the alter of environmentalism.

I remember the so called “environmentalists” who put spikes in trees to stop logging. The men who cut down trees could be grievously injured if they were to cut into a tree the “environmentalists” had spiked. Imagine a metal spike hitting a logger in the eye or chest. If a tree were successfully felled and sent to the lumber mill with spikes intact, the expensive saws that cut the wood would be broken. The mill workers would also be in physical danger.
So if you are a radical “environmentalist” who successfully stopped the logging industry you must be thrilled by the death and destruction the latest wildfires have brought because of your zealotry. .

There was a sawmill worker who lost a portion of his face years ago when he fed a piece into a gang saw or resaw.

They spiked it and the saw broke when he sent it through the saw.

I suppose it was an older mill that hadnt put in the magnet yet to catch such.

They worst is insulators. Hit one of those with a saw and the excitement grows quite a bit.

Everyone should Publicly Thank the Sierra Club for all they have done. I will bet my last nickel that most if Not All of those affected in SoCal regularly Donate and Fully Support the Actions of the Sierra Club and the Environmental Communist Groups.””’

AMEN

These fires were started the day the Sierra Club got it’s 503 (c) status from the Federal Government/IRS.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has donated as much as a dollar to the Sierra Club is guilty of these firestorms and loss of life & property.

EVERY SINGLE ONE........

You are quite dense.

People can live wherever they want. They should accept all responsibility for choosing where they live when that place is in a KNOWN flood or other zone/area known to be subject to repeated natural disasters.

Unless you can tell me some way to stop or otherwise mitigate the occurrences of Tornadoes, floods and other natural disasters in the same way forest maintenance reduces the damages down by forest fires, you are wasting your time and your arguments are baseless.

Well the left ‘lieberal’ talking point is that we still have the same number of wild fires.

The problems lies with what they refuse to report - that the current wildfires burn hotter and longer and are shown historically quadrupling the average square footage of a wild fire from 50 years ago, when common sense ruled forest management policies.

Best explanation I’ve seen concerning the inability to evacuate.
Those of us not in California can’t fully appreciate the insanity unless we get a thorough explanation like yours.
Thank you.

California quit clearing brush and logging dead trees awhile ago. It is why every fire could look like these

Not doing back burns. Not clearing brush. Not allowing logging of dead trees. All that contributed more than the “acts of God”. California has become a tinder box and because they will not do what needs to be done it will continue

The spikes didn’t usually hit the logger in the chest or eye.

The CHAIN on the CHAINSAW is what broke & severely wounded or killed the logger. Chain was broken when it hit the spike.

Allowing grazing with cows, sheep & goats would also help.

“Actually letting them burn is fine with me as long as I don’t have to listen too the fools who build homes in the middle of these disaster areas”

Your words not mine.

Take a peek at the $ Jerry Brown starved CA of:

And when you’re done with that, google the term “road diet.”
