Florida Poll: Republican Gov. Rick Scott Tied with Dem Sen. Bill Nelson Among Likely Voters
Breitbart ^ | 28 October 2018 | Kristina Wong

Republican Gov. Rick Scott is tied with incumbent Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson among likely voters in the race for U.S. Senate in Florida, according to a new poll.

Scott and Nelson both garner 46 percent support among likely voters, including those who have cast ballots already, according to CBS News’ Battleground Tracker Poll. The poll was fielded between October 23-26. Only six percent say they’re not sure.

Scott received approval from 63 percent of likely voters on how he handled the response to the recent hurricanes in Florida.

Scott ranked higher than Nelson on whether likely voters consider their past experience a positive thing. Forty-seven percent thought Scott’s past experience was positive, versus 43 percent for Nelson, the state’s current senior senator.

Scott benefits from Republicans reporting that they are more likely to vote than Democrats who have not already, according to CBS News.

The last poll, a statewide St. Petersburg survey, also showed close numbers, with Scott with a 0.3 percent lead over Nelson.

Forty-eight-point-six percent of likely Florida voters stated they would support Rick Scott in the general election in November, while 48.3 percent say they will support Bill Nelson.

Bill Nelson was one of 48 Democrats to vote against the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Republicans are favored to hold the Senate.

In Florida, Scott and President Trump are doing so well with Hurricane Michael mitigation that the media doesn’t report it.

I just hope the conservative counties hard hit by the storm still turn out and vote.

Don’t forget that in addition to the state government, Tally has fsu. So Leon and Alachua counties are blue. Aside from Dade, Palm, and Broward counties ie Miami, the rest of the state is clearly red.

It’s fine to watch the polls (more entertainment value than anything), but keep an eye on the early and absentee voting totals in Florida and elsewhere. Bottom line: Republican numbers are running well ahead of 2016. In Florida, for example, when you combine absentee and early voting totals to date, GOP has a lead of 59,000 votes. At the same point in 2016, GOP lead was only 40,000.

Traditionally, Republicans run up a solid majority in absentee voting, while Democrats do better with the early vote. But so far this year, we’re not seeing it. In fact, Democrats in Florida did not take a lead in early voting until yesterday, with a massive, statewide “souls to the polls” push that focuses on African-American churches. I believe yesterday was the final Sunday the polls will be open in Florida, so that element of the GOTV effort is over and done.

One more note: the Florida panhandle, a Republican bastion (except for two counties) is under-reporting so far, due to the impact of Hurricane Michael. But upwards of 2,000 voting locations in that area are opening this week, to give residents a chance to vote. That will help Republicans.

If you’re not following Larry Schweikart on Twitter, you should. He’s a retired University of Dayton history professor who wrote “A Patriot’s History of the United States,” a superb text that’s actually being used in hundreds of colleges around the country. For the past couple of election cycles, Dr. Schweikart has been monitoring and posting absentee/early voting totals as a harbinger of what will happen on election night. His track record is very good.

You’re not hearing anything about absentee/early voting from the MSM because the data in many states reflects a very energize GOP base and lots of independents voting Republican as well.

We all need to be vigilant with regard to voter fraud. I received this link; some of these numbers are important to get out there.

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1056332994699505666.html?utm_source=email&utm_medium=alert&utm_campaign=internal

“...Complaints about possible violations of the federal voting rights laws can be made directly to the Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section in Washington, DC by phone at 1-800-253-3931 or (202) 307-2767, by fax at (202) 307-3961, by email to voting.section@usdoj.gov (link sends e-mail) or by complaint form at justice.gov/crt/complaint/….

United States Attorney Stuart said, “Ensuring free and fair elections depends in large part on the cooperation of the American electorate.

It is imperative that those who have specific information about discrimination or election fraud make that information available immediately to my Office, the FBI, or the Civil Rights Division.”

Very skeptical of this......

It's a CBS News’ Battleground Tracker Poll. The poll was fielded between October 23-26

When the Republican is a linguini-spined moist-finger-in-the-air type it’s always a battle.

Panhandle voting has been part of the problem. Because of Hurricane recovery efforts.

Check this guys twitter feed. Larry Schweikart

He talks a lot about Florida and what's going on.

Correct.

4 put of the 8 counties effected by Hurricane Michael have yet to report any numbers which will be most certainly heavy Republican.

If CBS has them tied now, that means Nelson is getting stomped.

Expect all of the liar push-polling companies to spend the next week in CYA.

Larry Sweighart (sp?) ( FReeper LS) Says that the way to look at the election in Florida is to look at the party of the voters who early-voted. And, by that metric, that the Republicans are doing quite well in Florida.

He was right in ’16, hope he’s right now.

My fantasy is that the Republicans do as well in ’18 as they did in ’16 and ’14. Which would put them in 67 seat territory in the Senate . . .
