Clearly unconstitutional.

What if they are “transgender” and are male, but identify as female, does that count?
Do they also require at least one male? Because if you had an all female board, won’t that be discrimination against men, and thus illegal sex discrimination?

If getting more women on boards would make the companies more successful, wouldn’t they already be doing that? Wouldn’t they be actively recruiting women without a law, if a key to success is women’s involvement?
Is this law a solution in search of a problem?

being a female corporate executive just became insanely profitable in CA, courtesy of increased prices being paid by a captive customer base.
all through state coercion.

Will this include provisions for transgenderoid women? How about for other genders — aren’t there about 57 or so, now?

“Democrat State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson who authored the bill said getting more women on boards will make firms more successful.”
So this politician thinks she was elected to take over companies and make them more successful? This is a ridiculous law, and it doesn’t help women. It demeans women that have actually worked hard and smart and made it on merit.

As someone was commenting on some show .... how do blacks, Hispanics, to name a few others, feel about being discriminated against since only ‘women’ are required?

Silly as hell. And it would be just as silly if there was a law requiring men to be on corporate boards.
How about just having the most qualified people on a corporate board regardless of race, gender and everything else?

Corporate boards likely have no issue with having women as board members.
They likely do, however, fear over-regulation. Look for them to move their corporation headquarters to "red" states asap.
