California becomes first state to require women on corporate boards
The Independent (UK) via Yahoo ^ | October 1st, 2018 | Maya Oppenheim

California has become the first state in the US to require publicly traded companies to include women on their board of directors.

Governor Jerry Brown signed the new measure – which necessitates at least one female director on the board of each California-based public operation by the end of 2019 – into law on Sunday.

Firms will need up to three female directors by the end of 2021, depending on the size of their boards.

Hundreds of companies will be affected by the law and those who violate it can be fined $100,000 (£76,600) for a first violation and $300,000 (£229,900) for a second.

A fourth of publicly held corporations with headquarters in California do not have any women on their boards of directors.

Democrat State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson – who authored the bill – said getting more women on boards will make firms more successful.

Stupid people in Commiefornia cannot even define what a woman is anymore. We are here:“If there are no absolutes by which to judge society, then society is absolute.” Francis Schaeffer, How Shall We Then Live? (Old Tappan NJ: Fleming H Revell Company, 1976), p. 224.

Silly as hell. And it would be just as silly if there was a law requiring men to be on corporate boards.

How about just having the most qualified people on a corporate board regardless of race, gender and everything else?

“Democrat State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson – who authored the bill – said getting more women on boards will make firms more successful.”

So a lawyer that’s never held a job in the private sector now is an expert on how to make businesses more successful?

Seems like we already tested that theory with Obongo and he ran the country into the ground.

A lot of companies are no longer CA companies. They moved their Corp registration to Delaware.

Corporate boards likely have no issue with having women as board members.

They likely do, however, fear over-regulation. Look for them to move their corporation headquarters to "red" states asap.

“Clearly unconstitutional.”

California is pulling its own version of the 19th Amendment. Any sane male, business owner or not, should be scared silly at this point into voting Republican. After eliminating the Democrat then it can be determined how to deal with the RINOs.

Whoops wrong thread.

IOW, the one-fourth of businesses (very likely minority-owned and/or muzzie-owned) will window-dress their corporate org chart to give pretense of compliance. Meanwhile, the dip****s who voted for this idea can assure themselves that they're doing the right thing by rerunning that episode of "Arnie" where the housekeeper winds up on the board of directors.

What if they are “transgender” and are male, but identify as female, does that count?

Exactly my thoughts.
Have a long blonde wig on standby. Each Board member take turns being the designated female that meeting.
Absolutely nothing that Crazy Jerry can do about it.

I know I’ll never own a boat I can really cruise in, but being able to sail from the last place to get gas before entering Mexican waters all the way to Washington without setting foot on land puts cruising Alaskan waters even farther from Texas.
