Debra Katz : We Accept A Request to Testify, Maybe, But Only If We Can First Discuss More Specifics
Townhall ^ | September 22..,2018. 3;05pm | Timothy Meads

Attorney Debra S. Katz and her client, Professor Christine Blasey Ford, have "accepted" the Committee's request to testify next week before the Senate next week regarding Professor Ford's allegation that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexual assaulted her three decades ago, but have asked Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) for another meeting this afternoon to discuss specifics regarding the process in which the testimony will occur. Based on Debra Katz's request for more time to discuss specifics, it does not appear that they will actually testify under the proposed plan by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"Dr. Ford accepts the Committee's request to provide her first-hand knowledge of Brett Kavanaugh's sexual misconduct next week," Katz's email read. But, she said the proposed order of business is "fundamentally inconsistent with the Committee's promise of a fair, impartial investigation into her allegations."

Katz also said that her legal team and client were "disappointed" with the "leaks and bullying" which have "tainted" this process. Katz's team now asks for even more time to discuss the testimony, after 5 extended deadlines have been given already.

Based on this letter from Katz, it appears no agreement has been met. The 2:30 PM deadline was not an invitation to discuss more details, but to accept the Senate Judiciary Committee's offer. Katz and Ford did not accept their offer and instead made a counteroffer to discuss more details, thus delaying the process even further.

Try these terms on for size:

"Show up to testify under oath at 1:00 PM September 26, 2018. or be in contempt of Congress, with ALL that implies."

That’s mostly what modern “news” is...the same old crap for days ..weeks..even months.

IF it could forward the agenda.

Otherwise... crickets

I think you misjudge Grassley in your haste to get this over with.

The delaying tactics by the democRATS are irritating but this current process may not be just about accommodating this Ford woman.

Grassley's counting votes on the committee. He may not have them in his pocket yet.

Scheduling the vote in the committee is one thing. Having enough votes to take it out of committee to the full Senate may be the real problem.

Jeff Flake is a real flake after all. He may vote no.

They are endlessly sliming and defaming him publicly.

They scream consideration for Ford but absolutely ignore what they are doing to him and his wife and children.

Hypocrisy at its worst. I hope the voters are paying attention!

I have no “haste to get this over with.” By I know when we’re getting played, and Grassley is getting played.

Except for Trump, we have been losing for far too many years, more years than I have left. I am tired of getting played.

Depends on when the statute of limitations were dropped. If the law was changed after 1982(or 84 or 85? then they can’t use a later law to investigate any earlier then the law was changed.(ex post facto)

So, if he doesn’t have the votes in his committee, then just send the nomination to the full senate without any recommendation. It is not an absolute requirement to have the votes in the committee (though, of course, it helps, and does give cover). Send the nominations as is to the full senate and let everyone go on record. If Pence needs to break a tie, that’s fine.

Quiters never win. Remember that.

I don’t quit, those clowns in DC are doing it. They should have stood fast, not become wishy washy. When you face a determined enemy you do not back down, it only emboldens them. After holding the complaint for sixty days, they need more time? Everyone on the face of the earth knows this is a stall tactic to either derail him by having Flake and Collins “have second thoughts” or to garner a few more fake allegations. They are even advertising for them through their media whores. No, a party that cannot stand fast, like the enemy does, does not need my support if they cave in on this nomination.

Wouldn’t it be great if Juanita Broaddrick did the same thing and charged Clinton for raping her on April 25, 1978

I also heard “sexual” assault that has no statue of limitations requires penetration which she, at least during the start of this, stated did not happen.

It sounds like this (groping) would be just an assault that does have limitations in Maryland.

What a circus of lunatics! This lunacy will continue to grow if these Free-America-despising morons aren’t disregarded and crushed.

Sexual assault is rape.

She has not accused him of this. Only rat politicians have. (I wouldn’t be surprised if on Friday her Soro’s bankrolled lawyer comes out and makes this claim)

If you look at the official documents coming out they say “sexual misconduct.”

“What did she think about after you told her about it?”

Not much,kind of a vague,”That’s awful.”

Needless to say our conversations usually stick to grandkids and weather. VERY tiring.

This is all a media game. Time to bring in savvy media consultants and do the Nancy Reagan.....”Just say NO!”

What is going on is the worst political show trial since Justice Thomas and Bork.

The Democrats really don’t care about truth nor does the accuser. All they care about is blocking Trump and his agenda. No more, no less.

Use media advisers to figure out the line of attack and then let the chips fall where they may and burn all Democrats at the stake for the way they have treated an honorable judicial candidate. Shove everything else this year up their anus.

It sounds easy to us, but, remember, we have 4 stupid RINOs whose votes we need for confirmation. This is why Grassley keeps accommodating the ho.

Looks to me like they don’t want to testify. They are hoping Grassley says no so they can say “ see we agreed to be there but they would not let her (me) testify because Republicans hate women”. That will be what we will hear from their co-conspirators in the media too.
