The New York Times ^ | Adam Goldman adn Michael Schmidt

WASHINGTON — The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit.

Well, now the DOJ wants to wiretap Trump in the Oval Office. Amazing.

Another possibility. This is coming from Mueller himself.

This story if believed would:
-hurt Trump
-hurt Rosenstein
-hurt Kavanaugh
-hurt Repubs in the election
-probably kill the Mueller “investigation”

The NYT believes in the Mueller investigation. They think it will get Trump. I think the only source that would convince them otherwise and convince the editors to run this story is Mueller himself.

Have the Secret Service strip search Rosentein the next time he talks to the President
*****
That’s PERFECT ,, invite him in for a talk. The humiliation will put him so far over the edge that he’ll involuntarily vomit all kinds of metadata in the next week and EVERYONE will know about it in the inner circle even if it never gets reported.

I found this little paragraph from the master propagandists at the New York Times to be particularly galling:

“The revelations about Mr. Rosenstein come as Mr. Trump has unleashed another round of attacks in recent days on federal law enforcement, saying in an interview with the Hill newspaper that he hopes his assaults on the F.B.I. turn out to be ‘one of my crowning achievements’ and that he only wished he had terminated Mr. Comey sooner.”

Those underacted emails are going to shine the light on Rosenstein, I think.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

We have a winner!

I am thinking maybe you don't have any liberal friends?

This would embolden the Mueller investigation. The purpose of the Mueller investigation is:

  1. Get Trump.
  2. Get people close to Trump.
  3. Opposition Research against Trump for Dems
  4. Get Trump

Real Libs (tm) will feel quite emboldened: see, even his own AAG felt like he is unfit. WhateverMueller has to do to get him he should hurry up and do! Trump is a menace... blah, blah, blah.

Obviously, I have too many liberal friends.

I'm working on that.

“Why would they write this? To get Trump angry enough to immediately fire him?”

More likely to get all the FReepers riled up. The NYT knows all their garbage gets reposted here at Free Republic (God knows why).

Rosentein will be fired by this evening.
This is the NY Times frontrunning the bad news in the emails and texts being released.

Goodbye to Rosenwiesel.

Nope. It’s the Dems baiting POTUS into firing Rosendirtbag on the eve of the midterms.

Almost all of the NYT comments on this story are slamming the NYT for possibly getting RR fired and killing the Mueller investigation.

Will people still defend Jeff Sessions?

There are members of this forum who, despite all evidence to the contrary, will go to their graves believing that Sessions is one of the finest patriots who ever served.

Sessions needs to fire Rosenstein now. The rats are turning on one another. That is obvious. Rosenstein was part of the cabal. He is the one who decided to establish a SC despite the fact that this was a counterintelligence operation and no crime had been identified.

DOJ has copies of McCabe's contemporaneous notes. How can Rosenstein stay in his present position, including overseeing the Mueller investigation?

And McCabe had turned over all his notes to Mueller. Why wasn't the President notified about this planned coup? Mueller is in trouble as well.

Undermining the Constitution, a legitimate president and a legal election is adhering to ALL the enemies of the United States, giving them aid and comfort.

I disagree. It looks like the Dems at the NYT are stirring the pot here with the help of McCabe and trying to cause turmoil for the GOP right before the midterms.

You’re confusing the DOJ and the FBI. Wray is the director of the FBI and David Bowdich is the deputy director.

Sessions is Attorney General and Rosenstein is Deputy AG. However in the DOJ org chart, the AG has no direct reports, everyone reports to the Deputy who then reports to the AG.

Rosenstein was the one who just convinced Trump not to release the unredacted documents and instead, send them to the IG. This was just before the NYT article came out.

If Rosenstein was part of the cabal and was in the meeting that discussed how to put the heat on Trump including wearing a wire and using the 25th amendment to take him out, he shouldn't be there. Rosenstein has a history of stonewalling and arrogance. He needs to go.
