Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey laments conservative employees 'don't feel safe to express their opinions'

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey on Friday lamented that conservative employees at the social media giant “don’t feel safe” to freely express their political opinions at work.

“I mean, we have a lot of conservative-leaning folks in the company as well, and to be honest, they don’t feel safe to express their opinions at the company,” Mr. Dorseytold New York University professor Jay Rosen during Friday’s episode of “Recode Media with Peter Kafka.”

“They do feel silenced by just the general swirl of what they perceive to be the broader percentage of leanings within the company, and I don’t think that’s fair or right,” the Twitter chief said. “We should make sure that everyone feels safe to express themselves within the company, no matter where they come from and what their background is.

“I mean, my dad was a Republican,” he added. “When I was growing up, was on the radio all the time with Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, so my mom was on the opposite end of the spectrum … and I always felt safe to challenge both of them, especially my dad, and so it was definitely a privilege, but if we’re creating a culture that doesn’t enable people or empower people to speak up or not, we’re gonna be able to do that for our service.”

Last week, Mr. Dorsey defended Twitter on Capitol Hill against allegations of anti-conservative bias, telling Congress that his company builds policies and rules “with a principle of impartiality” and objectivity.

If a church is made up of liberals it’s unbiblical. Period no discussion. Abortion, gay marriage, prayer, ..... Christianity and liberalism are antonyms

Twitter should be shut down between now and the election, except for Trump’s account.

Hostile work environment, Jack.

Big-bucks lawsuits ahead if you keep it up.

Are you going to take any action to stop this? Like firing people that conduct themselves in such a childish manner. I would think you would not want such people on your payroll.

Political discussion doesn't belong in the workplace, period (unless it is related to policy that directly affects a business). Politics is divisive nowadays - mostly liberal Americans no longer have the ability to leave politics at the waters edge.

Kafka? Seriously? Because the idea that conservatives are free to post their opinions at Twitter is certainly Kafkaesque.

I didn’t toe the strict liberal line a former phb-ette laid out.

My working life was miserable. I didn’t love the wun, super strict recycling, didn’t give to the university fund drives, detail every second of my off time, and didn’t get an approval on contractors who worked on my home. Talk about a control freak.

I got locked out in eight minutes a couple of weeks ago when I mocked Amy “Sisfronthole” Siskind over her “Zina Bash is a white supremacist” tweet.

It’s sickening how this has infected corporate execs. They are scared to death of the mafia.

Lefties truly believe that all conservatives need to be eliminated in order to make the world a better place

“My working life was miserable.”

I hear ya! I refused to donate to United Way. I referred to the SEIU as “organized crime”. Staff meetings were immersed in political correctness, and I played “Wonk Word Bingo” during the torture. That was bad, but eye rolling was especially heinous. The HR Dept. is the worst.

As I posted before, the day I retired was the third best day of my life. (1) getting saved, (2) 11/8/2016, (3) retiring.

My account was banned a couple of days ago. I don’t know if I was banned because I regularly used the term “illegal aliens” or if Joe Scarborough didn’t appreciate my brutally honest tweet to him.

Either way, I haven’t lost any sleep over it. I was considering deleting my account anyway because of Twitter’s shameless hypocrisy.

At least I went out in a blaze of glory.

On a practical basis, the only way a conservative is safe to express his opinion is if there are exactly zero lefties in a position to retaliate. Any more than that, it is not safe, because lefties are not civilized and cannot draw proper boundaries.

...if they shared their opinions, they could be identified and fired.

Many conservatives have learned the hard way about 'sharing' how they feel with liberals.

Senior management has asked me why I don’t express pride for my LGTBQ colleagues

Seriously. How can one have pride in the sexual choices of coworkers? PRIDE is feeling confident and delighted at your achievement. What did I do to help my coworker have sex with his own gender? Yes, we can feel pride in our child’s accomplishments, by love and proxy, but I don’t think I could ever feel “pride” at any of my coworkers’ sexual feelings. And why would I feel “pride” that Joe loves his Steve, and no pride that Dan loves his Marie?
