The economy is booming but did you know that these are the final days of Donald Trump's presidency? That is the absurd premise put forward on MSNBC's The 11th Hour with Brian Williams on Wednesday by that master of hyperbole, Jon Meacham, the man at the helm of Newsweek as it sank like the Titanic.
Meacham expressed optimism about America's future because "there is increasing evidence, there's facts in a post-truth world, facts are coming into play." There is Manafort's verdict and Bob Woodward's new book and the anonymous op-ed in The New York Times, representing "a genuine reckoning, because there are facts in evidence that weren`t necessarily in evidence when we started the month of August."
He's talking about facts in a post-truth world.... to serial fabulist Brian Williams.
Williams was conjuring up images of Richard Nixon "three scotches deep in the White House in the evening doing strange things walking down the hallway," Meacham eagerly joined in with that Woodward and Bernstein Final Days imagery.

Okay, I’m convinced. This is “Peak Trump” for real.
They were wrong on the day he announced, and again when he hit his peak at 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% etc in polling. They were wrong when other candidates dropped out so “the real candidates” could focus on Trump. They were wrong when he said something that gave liberals the vapors during the GOP debates. They were wrong when Comey exonerated Hillary and when polls showed Hillary in the lead. They were wrong with Access Hollywood. They were wrong with last minute polling after Comey again exonerated Hillary. They were wrong the morning of election day. They were wrong with rumors of unfaithful electors. They were wrong with “Russia” and with “Stormy” and with chaos and with firings and with unstable and with more Russia and with comments in Helsinki and with comments on Charlottesville.
But this time they are right. We’ve hit Peak Trump for real. What are the odds that MSNBC experts could be wrong again?
No one will do a thing. If they have so weaponized the government that they can drive him out while their criminals remain free, the country is over.
You really expect people with families to march on Washington to be jailed by their fascist cops? All big talk. Our side never fights. We believe in the bogus rule of law, long ago corrupted.
The only thing pansy Jon Meacham knows about “playing out” is that first he has to undo his zipper.
They have all written a delusional script and they think everyone’s playing along! Nutjobs all. Meanwhile in REALITY WINNER land the economy is roaring and the world respects us as THE USA again.
