The death of The Cranberries lead singer Dolores ORiordan has been ruled a drowning due to alcohol intoxication by British authorities, an inquest at Westminster Coroners Court reportedly revealed on Thursday.
ORiordan was found dead on Jan. 15 in her hotel room at the London Hilton on Park Lane.
According to the BBC, coroner Dr. Shirley Radcliffe said that ORiordan was submerged in the bath at the time she was discovered in what was a tragic accident. There were no signs of injury or self-harm found during the post-mortem examination, the outlet reported.
Authorities discovered a bottle of champagne and five miniature bottles on the scene, in addition to containers of prescription drugs with a quantity of tablets in each container, the BBC reported.
Toxicology tests showed that ORiordans blood contained therapeutic amounts of medication but 330mg of alcohol per 100mls of blood, the BBC reported. Thats four times over the 80mg legal limit for driving, according to the outlet.

The Cranberries put out an incredible body of music. Even in their prime, they were one of the underappreciated bands.

Bad things happen when you’re drunk.
When people accidentally fall overboard on a cruise ship, does anyone think they’re sober? The ones that aren’t murders disguised as accidents, I mean...

They delayed this announcement as long as they could. Originally it was to come out in April and then they just said the autopsy report was “delayed”.
Sad.

Drunk and alone in a hotel bathtub far from home is not how any of us would wish to die. Poor girl

She had a huge talent and a great voice. I really liked her. She did suffer much in her life, but I can't help feeling angry that she left her three children this way --- the oldest is 12. This will scar their hearts and souls for the rest of their lives.
May the Lord have mercy on her and cut every attachment to sin and sorrow, lift every burden from her shoulders, and lead her to peace.

Don’t forget Bon Scott either. He was no slouch when it came to drinking.

Alice Cooper had a couple of close calls in this regard. It drove him back to the Lord and by the grace of God he’s been clean and sober for decades now.

I blew a .28 twenty five years ago. When the cop asked me to recite the alphabet, I did it in German.
I hadn't spoken German since high school - twenty five years earlier.
I haven't touched a drop of alcohol since.

Why did God create whiskey?
To keep the Irish from ruling the world.
