A military parade requested by U.S. President Donald Trump that had been planned for November in Washington has been postponed until at least next year, the Defense Department said on Thursday.

“We originally targeted November 10, 2018 for this event but have now agreed to explore opportunities in 2019,” Defense Department Spokesman Colonel Rob Manning said in a statement.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said it was unclear exactly what caused the postponement but the increased cost of the event had caused concern and could be one reason.

Why is this such a major news story? Because the expense blocked his gesture? Ideas get rejected all the time in business, government and non-profits.

No Problem! The troops don’t want to march in DC in November. ———— Possibility of wind and a cold rain!
Screw That!

It was scheduled for the day before the 100th anniversary of the end of WW I. My brother is a docent at the WW I Museum in KC. Evidently it had that whole community upset.

President Trump should just come down the road from Bedminster, NJ to Raritan, NJ and witness the John Basilone parade. This year it’s scheduled for September 23rd.

I’m glad it was canceled. The security costs would have been immense.

IMHO...Vets dont need parades...they need confirmation of what we fought for was right when we were called...

The last time Uncle forced me to march in a parade was at noon of the same day we'd just returned from an all night field exercise. Everyone was tired already, and had no clean uniforms as we'd been out in the mud for the two previous weeks.

We each hand washed one set of fatigues, underwear, and socks. Polished boots and did a quick cleaning of the outsides of our M-16's.

Turns out it was just some silly ass Change of Command ceremony for the post commander. Those guys of course had slept, eaten, and showered before reviewing our Bn.

The only parade I liked was at the end of BCT. That was because it meant BCT was over and we could leave Ft. Leonard Lost in the Woods, Misery the next day.

Sad, the Parade will come—maybe when people realize Trump isn’t the evil Hitler that the left has painted him to be. Maybe the Nation will see him as the great man he is—Like Lincoln, after his death.

It would have interfered with the USMC Birthday celebrations.

I hope they just cancel it. We’re not Soviet Russia or the damned Chicomms.

Trump just wanted to honor our military, but I kind of agree, there are better ways to do that than a military parade.
