Yup. Too many people, especially younger people, confuse sex with love.
Today it is Sex and lust. They confuse this with love.
They are distinct, and one should come before the other.
I’m no angel, either. I’ve slept with women I couldn’t stand, let alone didn’t love.
But there still is not enough love in the world, despite all the in-your-face porn out there.
I’m fairly certain years ago that most Anthropologists would have confirmed the danger to culture and society of sexually frustrated alienated young men who had little chance of forming a permanent bond with a female. Now such knowledge is too controversial.
Why have societies moved toward monogamy even when we’ve become wealthier via capitalism?
The value of social stability.
When the top guy has 3 wives, there are two men with no chance for a mate.
When the top guy has one wife and rarely cheats, and even then she’s officially paired off, the men at the lower stratum have equal opportunity to pair off.
This results in less crime and less rape and sexual abuse of women.
There are better life outcomes for children because the men invest in the children of their one wife instead of shopping for more partners. Many of the Muslim terrorists were essentially raised by single mothers because Dad had time and attention split between children from multiple wives.
This isn’t theoretical. It is being seen in developing nations shifting from polygamy to monogamy.

The guy thinks that women couldn’t leave the house without wearing tampons. In reality, industrially made menstrual pads give women the same freedom.
He thinks if they’re stuck at home because they don’t want to free bleed in public, they’ll stay at home with the children unless pregnant and want to get pregnant so they can leave the house.
But would they have been able to see their fantasy of violent revenge reinforced over and over again via movies, games, and certain internet sites? Would they have been able to have their resentments reinforced by like minded persons? Would they have had so much leisure time to indulge in their warped self pity? I think all of this plays a role in bolstering their ability to act out and commit heinous crimes. Also access to marijuana that is much more potent than people realize and can indeed cause psychotic problems in young men especially. There is also the matter of prescription drugs that have been linked with changes in behavior.
What doesn’t play a role? Access to guns. Which I think for many young men now are more difficult to get than in earlier ages.
Shortly after Minassian's rampage in Toronto, news outlets everywhere were running stories profiling other "incels." One of these, on BBC I think, had short interviews with various self-described incels. 90% of them were basically delusional teenagers who never grew up. As teen boys, we all think that when we're all grown up we'll get a new supermodel in bed every week, but when most of us actually grow up, we realize that's not the way the world works. These jokers never did - they're emotionally stuck at age 15 with an extra decade or two to stew in their imagined resentments. If they had more realistic expectations, most anyone who doesn't look like the Elephant Man and isn't living in a box under the bridge can attract the interest of some woman - but that isn't what they want. They want to live in a 14 year old's fantasy world.
However, there was one "incel" profiled in the article who didn't fit this profile. He said that the one thing he ever wanted in life is to be a husband and a father, but his appearance and lack of social skills made that impossible. That guy wasn't just a spoiled teenager pouting that he can't get swimsuit models into the sack, he was someone doing his best to be an adult and for whatever reason failing at it. The first group of incels deserves to be ridiculed and marginalized until they grow up, the second at least deserves some level of compassion, and if possible, help.

What has changed is that our mass media and pop culture has created a hypersexualized society, where people measure one another's value (and their own) solely by how many sexual partners they can attract. This is what encourages these "loser girls" to be hyperpromiscuous when they're young rather than settling down with a less than perfect mate. Similarly, "loser guys" can't just find contentment through any other accomplishments (careers, pastimes, etc) as they may have in the past, when the only currency acknowledged by society is sexual.

I couldn’t agree more.
More to the point, most of the rampaging incels we hear about are OK- looking, gainfully employed men. They could find themselves a girlfriend or a wife if a serious relationship was their goal. But that isn't what they want - they resent the fact that some stud is getting a bed a new Playboy centerfold every week whereas they don't. So the "incel's" response is very much like the guy who choses to remain unemployed because he can't get an entry position that makes him a multimillionaire overnight.
In both these cases - the incel and the perpetually unemployed (or both), you're dealing with a perpetual teenager rather than an adult. What exactly can you do with such a person other than tell him that he's made his bed and should now go lay in it? Pretty much the only thing that would help these people is recognizing that the world they see in "reality" shows, Hollywood blockbusters, and sitcoms (where everyone winds up with a dream job, a dream girl, and dream life) isn't the way the world really works, and there's nothing other than experience and hard knocks that can teach them that.

How many of these incels are introverts? They spend their day at work where courting practices are a ticket to the unemployment line. After work, their options are typically places where the extroverts win. Susan Cain has done a lot of work in this area. Re-read your hateful posts in this thread in that context and maybe you’ll understand what I’m saying.

Social media makes a girl who is a 5 thinks she is a 7. I suppose it is the ability to get responses to poses make her a few points higher, not really sure. she wants an 8. So the guys who were 7, 6 and 5, who might have had a chance in the old days when interaction was primarily face to face, have no chance. Not all that good on the details, but the main point is that social media has in some way upset the normal mating market and most particularly the manner in which women realistically gauged their chances.
The women who aim high can find a temporary chap who will bed them, but not marry them. The somehow cannot see past these affairs and what it takes to get in bed with an 8 is much less than what it takes to get married to one. So continue to ignore the decent guys until it is too late. Their youth is spent and no marriage is secured.
They get bitter and are not at all pleasant to be around in their 30s or later. Why even bother?

Most guys have not grown up. They play their video games, do half-assed jobs and are not serious about achieving anything. They frankly offer very little. It is not that girls have changed, most women want to have a husband and children, but the guys are not stepping up to the plate to do their part. A “5” guy who has drive and energy has no problem getting a girl, most guys who are a 5 simply are not motivated in any way, they do not even try. what is a girl to do? Girls are not bitter they are frustrated.
Seems to me a lot of this has to do with the loss of middle class jobs. Guys coming of age up to around 1975 could figure on making enough to buy a house and have a decent life if they just worked hard. Strong motivation to work, an achievable goal. Not so any more. Now with the median house being 350,000 and the median family income being 57,000, well there are a lot of folks that will never live as well as their parents did. Not a lot of motivation to work hard, they see it better to optimize the short term.
The entire response of young to seek a degree has been part of the response, which has lead to more distortions, where most folks going to a college are simply seeking easy credentials, they are not interested in higher learning, which is clearly indicated by their education choices. Big issue is a crappy degree in a liberal arts degree with a 60,000 debt load does not help someone in any way, there is now a generation of young people who cannot even pay off their student debt, much less think about buying a house. when it is a young women, they have essentially made themselves very poor marriage material, due to the high debt and even higher expectations based on a false promise of higher education solving all their problems.
Under such circumstances promiscuous behavior is kind of expected. I recall youth and instinct cannot be denied for ever. Something will give, and that is where we find ourselves today.
If you want to fix all of this, you have to bring back middle class value added jobs, instead of favoring financial manipulation at the expense of all else.

Relatively few. Some of the most sexist POS I’ve dealt with are men who think they’re women. They dismiss women who don’t live out 1950s stereotypes in appearance and behavior or outright condemn them as unfairly privileged (bad) while beating them at everything from sports to winning women’s awards.
Maybe they are talking about Old Testament days when women had to go live in a tent in the yard for one week a month?
