Ocasio-Cortez was campaigning for Hawaii Democratic congressional candidate Kaniela Ing ahead of this weekend’s primary election and argued that Hawaii felt like a “kindred home” because she also comes “from a place of colonized people.”
Ocasio-Cortez said that she and Ing had similar life experiences even though they grew up worlds apart because they both lost their fathers when they were young and had to work multiple jobs to help their families make ends meet. And, she added, “We come from a family and a place that had been colonized.”
She told the crowd that her mother was from Puerto Rico and many of her family members still live there before claiming that she and Ing were “shaped by the exact same forces” like “runaway income inequality, an unaddressed history of imperialism, and poverty.”
She added that Puerto Ricans and Hawaiians still have to deal “with the consequences of those struggles.”
“While the entire country wants to forget that history, we’re not allowed to,” she said. “We are not afforded the privilege to forget about the colonial history of our island, and neither is Hawaii.”
Ocasio-Cortez has been campaigning for likeminded candidates across the country to build a bench of left-wing Democratic-socialist candidates. She implied on CNN earlier in the week that even though some of her candidates, like Michigan gubernatorial candidate Abdul El-Sayed, lost to establishment Democrats earlier in the week, they beat the spread and helped “move the needle forward in the fight for social and economic dignity in the United States.”

Very likely a New York Republican but that might be better than a socialist Democrat. Though she would compete with Maxine for party idiot. Moot point since he has done nothing to take the campaign seriously. Doesn’t appear to be campaigning at all, lame picture and websites.
Thats why I always take a window seat next to the emergency exit.

Hmm. How did she get admission into BU? She shows remarkable silliness. They gave her a degree. In economics, no less.
There are no poor White people anywhere.

For some reason, we don’t hear much about the people of Appalachia.
Many hot women think money grows on trees...male chauvinist oppressor imperialist trees... ;-)
Take our island—please! ;-)
The college should sue her to get the degree returned.
Actually the other students should sue the college, for watering down the degrees.
The alumni should sue the college administrators, for wrecking the institution.
The taxpayers or donors should sue the college administrators, for fraud and theft.
The sad unvarnished truth is that most of these colonized people were far better governed as colonies. You can point to several $#*+hole counties in particular who became independent mostly in the 20 years following the end of World War II whose only semi-functional infrastructure remaining is what they inherited from their colonial rulers.
And they continue to blame their problems on the legacy of imperialism. For generation after generation after generation. Nothing ever gets done. Nothing ever gets improved. But its always the fault of the vanishingly distant imperialism. Such a convenient excuse for failure.
There are no poor White people anywhere.......For sure, not in the US. MAtter of fact, no poor people in the US at all (unless they want to be).
Those jerks will just claim Russia, Russia, Russia. Hillary will never accept any part of the blame for losing.
Her name is CORTEZ, and she is complaining about imperialism? Really?
In her personal run for the roses, her mouth is rounding the final bend but her brain is still in the starting gate.
Probably, the best thing to do is plow it under and salt the ground. Most “educators” have their heads up their posteriors.
Plow it under but why salt the ground. We want the ground to become productive after decades or centuries of having been fallow.
Is that a CPAP headgear?
It’s a gag ball to keep them quiet.
