On Tuesday night, a 51-year-old man who lives in a cabin in Holy Jim Canyon was arrested in connection with the fire. Forrest Gordon Clark was taken into custody of O.C. Sheriffs deputies after he allegedly sent an email last week which read, this place will burn, according to the Orange County Register.
Of the 14 cabins in Clarks area, his is the only one that was not destroyed, the Register reports.
He was arrested on two counts of felony arson, one count of felony threat to terrorize and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Because of the resources needed to battle the Mendocino Complex burning in Northern California now the largest wildfire in state history along with several others burning across the state, only 444 personnel were assigned to the Holy Fire as of Wednesday morning. However, at a morning briefing, officials said they are hoping to double that number soon. Ten water-dropping helicopters and seven fixed-wing aircraft were being used in the aerial attack.
Fire will continue to spread southeast and north with only limited spread to the west, the Cleveland National Forest said in a statement Tuesday night. The lack of resources for direct attack will allow the fire to spread into new areas, and align for strong head-fire runs and the potential for an Elsinore down slope event.

But this can’t be true. I was told this was all caused by “global warming” and “climate change”.
Still lots of smoke coming from the fire. I was just outside watching it.
Did he have a red stapler?..................

I tried to get more info from the linked OCR article, but apparently they have a “zero-article” limit (paywall, iow).
I would hope that they have more evidence than just a statement of fact.
To-wit, could I be arrested for making the same statement alone? The answer to that question should be academic, but in this climate (no pun intended) the answer is unclear.
If you look closely at the arrested man’s dwelling, you will see a glaring lack of vegetation in the approach to the structure plus a fire-resistant (appears to be) ground-to-structure interface.
In other words, his cabin may have been the only one which didn’t burn simply because he had a defensible space and took precautionary measures.
I’m dismissing the story as #fakenews without further information.
then who is the new Norm ?¿
Any thoughts on doing something like a MINI MOAB in areas that are uninhabited to snuff out these fires by taking the O2 out of the Fire Triangle of Fuel, Air and Ignition?
Just a Brain Fart.
Is this affecting your area?
Another Halfrican arsonist, just like the Halfrican arsonist who started the fire in 90% white Idyllwild, CA.
Well, maybe the tons of dirt and dust thrown up would smother it
But think of the mileage that Trump would get from that:
Other countries leaders: "Holy Crap, he's bombing his own country ! What will he do to us ?"
“In other words, his cabin may have been the only one which didnt burn simply because he had a defensible space and took precautionary measures.”
What was he arrested for...making a prediction? Probably arrested because he violated some California law about clearing fire tinder from around your cabin.
no, but he thought his ginger snaps had Hebrew writing and Nabisco is run by aliens because their logo has antenna
Doesn’t seem to dying down. The smoke plume was impressive earlier but now it’s spread out again.
it’s much worse. Fire size doubled last night and the winds, now blowing east, southeast are driving fire down towards the valley floor. Bulldozers and water trucks are being pre-positioned at housing development on the hills of north Elsinore. We saw many families evacuating. Entry is now restricted. Heavy ash and smoke in d/t Elsinore. We saw 8 more engines heading into Elsinore on Central, maybe fresh off the freeway.
Evacuation center is open on the east side of 1-15. Central Avenue go east and follow the signs (turn left at Burger King towards Lowes and follow the signs, and if traffic is tight there at the light, go one more light and turn left towards Chilis/Costco and track back thru the parking lot)
I feel for you. I’m at the OC end of the SA Canyon and all we’ve had is small ash fall and the smell of smoke. I was surprised that there’s much left to burn what with the Canyon 1 and Canyon 2 fires last fall but then this one is in that big region to the south. We could use some rain.
