Facebook And Apple Remove Pages And Podcasts From Alex Jones For Hate Speech Violations
CNBC ^ | 08/06/18 | Ryan Browne

Apple confirmed on Monday that it had removed five out of six podcasts, which includes Jones' infamous The Alex Jones Show.

Facebook has also removed four pages that belong to Jones.

Both companies said Jones violated hate speech policies on their respective platforms.

Apple and Facebook clamped down on content by Alex Jones Monday, with the former pulling five of his podcasts and the latter removing four pages controlled by him.

Apple confirmed on Monday that it had removed five out of six podcasts, which includes Jones' infamous "The Alex Jones Show" as well as a number of other InfoWars audio streams. The news was originally reported by BuzzFeed News.

Jones, a controversial conspiracy theorist who has claimed that the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting was a hoax, has been hit with other content bans from the likes of Google's YouTube and Spotify.

Apple's move seems slightly more dramatic — the company has taken down entire libraries of InfoWars podcasts, rather than a select few episodes.

"Apple does not tolerate hate speech, and we have clear guidelines that creators and developers must follow to ensure we provide a safe environment for all of our users," an Apple spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.

"Podcasts that violate these guidelines are removed from our directory making them no longer searchable or available for download or streaming. We believe in representing a wide range of views, so long as people are respectful to those with differing opinions."

Facebook ban

Later on Monday morning, Facebook announced it was removing four of Jones' pages for persistently uploading content in breach of the social network's content guidelines.

Not participating won't solve the problem.

Kudos.

Really because I see a statement that EXPLICITLY bans the Congress from passing a law. I guess I don’t have my penumbra glasses on.

I am not a lawyer, but I understand that First Amendment DOES apply to private people under some situations.

I read that there are Federal laws which say that private citizen cant interfere with another citizen’s exercise of constitutional rights. For example, if someone vandalizes a yard sign, that’s a crime. Doesn’t FB and Youtube interfere with Jones’ constitutional rights?

Also, isn’t FB a de facto social media utility just like power or water company? Utilities can’t discriminate.

Is there a lawyer in the house who can tell us more?

No need to panic over this. What possible harm can come from total and complete control of speech in this nation?

Thanks.

Did anyone happen to notice the other thread on this subject got pulled? Probably won't be long before this thread is pulled too.

Friedrich Nietzsche once said that madness in the individuals is rare, but happens all the time in large groups of people.

Liberals prove this every day.

“They aren’t private companies if they receive public money.”

Is your position that every company that receives a penny of public money is now and forever owned and controlled by the government?

“Plus as an American Alex has the right to his opinion.”

No argument he is entitled to his opinion.

Buthe is NOT “entitled” to use the property and resources, owned by others. In that respect, he must observe their rules.

I have yet to see a specific instance, of alleged “hate speech.”

Western world is becoming new and improved Soviet Union.

Listening to Jones, Limbaugh and others is no different than listening to Radio Free Europe or Voice of America from behind the iron curtain back in the 1960’s and 70’s.

That article outlines what is going on.

If you think hybrid government/private chimeras are the same thing as a private enterprise, I can’t help you.

I don’t get the problem other than the offending entities are liberal. And is that all bad? You can be moderated or deleted on any number of forums/message boards or you may never make it past a screener on talk radio strictly based on content or the fact you make the host look bad. We applaud it when it limits the left from making their points.
