thats been a favorite left wing myth for years....all polling after Kent State was 60/30 supporting the Ohio National Guard. The left also “adores” all the war protests between 1968-1972...like it really changed anything...Nixon still won a 49 state landslide. The public turned against the war..because “they” didnt go and win the damn thing.
Actually, it was won both militarily and with a peace settlement by Henry Kissinger, which called for US troops to be removed except for a few advisers. We kept our word and removed troops. The South Vietnamese were just as dependent on our continued military and economic aid, just like the countries we go into today.
The problem started with Walter Cronkite, billed as “The Most Trusted Man In America”, who did the CBS news. He started a lying campaign on the nightly news that never quit. So public opinion changed to being against the war. The dems took advatange of this and defunded support to the South Vietnamese. The north re-invaded the south. Without our support, they surrendered.
After that the media got their lying perfected, then evolved into what we have today as being outright Joseph Goebbels grade propaganda, as with CNN.
The dems (Prez Johnson) got the Vietnam war built up to a major conflict by pouring in thousands and thousands of troops. Prez Nixon won the war. The Dem congress lost the war through defunding and their lying campaign.
Another way to look at it, the Dems actually won the Vietnam war. The dems are anti-American commies, the N Viet’s are commies, so in essence that was our dems first military victory. Their first political victory was Wade vs Roe.
Ever since then our media and leftist government has let the Vietnam lie go forward that we lost that war militarily, which brings shame upon our military leaders and soldiers.
Sorry for the rant. But that’s one of the biggest reasons I am a firm Limbaugh grade Republican that supports President Trump 100%!
