Anyone Watching the Netflix Show "Occupied" From Norway?
Netflix ^ | 06.23.18 | chickensoup

Posted on 06/23/2018 3:42:50 PM PDT by Chickensoup

In the near future, Norway is occupied by Russia on behalf of the European Union, due to the fact that the newly elected environmental friendly Norwegian government has stopped the all important oil- and gas-production in the North Sea.

“Norway theoretically occupied by Russia.”

Well certainly.

There would be no opposition by feckless Theresa May, emasculated Macron or fellow traveler Merckle.

“Were they too shy to show the Germans or French storming in?

Because that is who it would be.”

As much as the French Political Parties are greased with money from Oil and mineral extraction from their former colonies, it is unlikely that the France would let Russians get that business instead of Total.

The Russians probably play better in the Nordic mind as the bad guys - they have been increasingly threatening.

No fantasy of fighting the invasion? Do they just assume they roll over and accept foreign occupation passively?

I would not hand one dime to Netflix in the future.
A-hem!

*Spoilers: (drag curser)

There are places on the internet where you can watch Netflix shows for free.

*But you didn't hear it from me.

Yes and in V for Vendetta, look who fought and won...certainly not the “people.”

The recipe was very different.

They sure did in 1940.

Russia becomes an ally of the pro-Muslim, pro-LGBT, Trump hating EU?? May it never happen.

Yes, I've watched them all and I thought about posting it before. I liked it but I watched it knowing that it was fiction from an alternate universe as the whole concept was pretty outrageous.

I'm looking forward to the next season whenever it comes out. BTW, I liked how the US was energy independent and isolationists.

Doesn’t make sense. We have 500 US Marines on the Norwegian Russia that would stop them.

>>I liked it but I thought they overburdened the “BlackWifeGenius/interracial child”-angle.

In a show about Norway and Russia, they still find a way to work that in?

Have not seen “Occupied”.

I did try to watch The Cloverfield Paradox, but it started off with Earth being destroyed and this was another mission-to-save-the-planet movie. About 5 minutes of that was enough.

Half of the movies and series crap are the same theme: Earth’s resources are gone and mankind has to do something drastic.

Ironic that mankind is so evil as to destroy Earth’s capabilities, but mankind is so brilliant that they can create a whole culture elsewhere and the space vehicles to get a ‘select’ populace there.

I watched it and enjoyed it. I watched it with the mindset that I would have while watching science fiction.

Norway’s cradle-to-grave socialism depends entirely on North Sea oil. While the country is focused on strict environmentalism — for Norway — the Norwegians seem to be unconcerned about the consequences of very profitably shipping their oil elsewhere. The notion of them stopping oil production for any reason doesn’t make sense.

Look up the HTML that you used to post your image. Note that you can set the width of the image in pixels using

width=“600” or 700 or 400 or whatever.

It is good practice to add this parameter to an image posting to avoid the problem you get when the FR page scales everything to fit the image width on the screen. I have seen cases where the scaling makes the text unreadable. Not in this case but your image did reduce the font size quite a bit.

Remember, we don’t want to lose old Freepers reading our brilliant stuff on a small iPhone.

But it is a great image that deserves to be posted. One that certainly meets the 1000 word rule.

I watched the first season and enjoyed it. I found myself laughing more then I think is intended. Its so PC it is almost a parody; however, I found it in some ways original. Also the over the top opening music adds to the mix. Norwegians are funny quirky.
