The owner of the Red Hen explains why she asked Sarah Huckabee Sanders to leave
The Washington Post ^ | 06/23/18 | Avi Selk

Posted on 06/23/2018 1:56:12 PM PDT by Simon Green

Stephanie Wilkinson was at home Friday evening — nearly 200 miles from the White House — when the choice presented itself.

Her phone rang about 8 p.m. It was the chef at the Red Hen, the tiny farm-to-table restaurant that she co-owned just off Main Street in Lexington, Va.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders had just walked in and sat down, the chef informed her.

“He said the staff is a little concerned. What should we do?” Wilkinson told The Washington Post. “I said I’d be down to see if it’s true.”

It seemed unlikely to her that President Trump’s press secretary should be dining at a 26-seat restaurant in rural Virginia. But then, it was unlikely that her entire staff would have misidentified Sanders, who had arrived last to a table of eight booked under her husband’s name.

As she made the short drive to the Red Hen, Wilkinson knew only this:

She knew Lexington, population 7,000, had voted overwhelmingly against Trump in a county that voted overwhelmingly for him. She knew the community was deeply divided over such issues as Confederate flags. She knew, she said, that her restaurant and its half-dozen servers and cooks had managed to stay in business for 10 years by keeping politics off the menu.

And she knew — she believed — that Sarah Huckabee Sanders worked in the service of an “inhumane and unethical” administration. That she publicly defended the president’s cruelest policies, and that that could not stand.

“I’m not a huge fan of confrontation,” Wilkinson said. “I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.”

Why should politics be on any menu to begin with? If you want exclude anyone f on your place of business, have the guts to advertise that up front, and see how well things go.

You are right there is no room for politics in business. But that only shows how you and I are backward thinkers.

The NFL traitors on the field led the owners to make concessions and make burbling phony half sentences of being “with” the players for “social rights” and all that.
Millions of patriots refused to go to games or watch on TV. The Papa John patriot was pushed off the board at his company for criticizing the traitors.

Sponsors left immediately when little David Hogg told the Laura Ingraham hurt his little feelings with words.

Michael Savage, Rush, Mark Levin, Bill Cunningham and others are on the “no go” list by advertising agencies who discriminate against allowing ads on their shows by clients. Outrageous. That’s why they have tiny sponsors for beds, pillows, sheets, etc. instead of Kraft, Geico,GM,Ford and Apple.

Leftists still throwing tantrums. They have no shame. They actually think that if they hold their breath long enough, they’re going to get rid of President Trump AND us! We’re not going ANYWHERE, and neither is he!

All the lib comrades in NoVa will flock to Lexington because Bezos’ rag has enjoined them.

"nearly 200 miles from the White House"

The DC Bolsheviks ain't gonna drive 3+ hours each way to save her restaurant. (Maybe she wanted to retire and decided to leave with a "bang".)

Politics is NOT a protected class. I am in favor of government punishing people less if they discriminate. I actually would like for people to have more power to discriminate, not less.

Hope her business goes the way of Starbucks.

The Red Hen is located in a liberal stronghold. Business will do just fine.

The optics, however, of kicking conservatives out of your business for simply showing up to dine will be priceless.

Open a Chick fil A on the same block. The Red Hen will become an empty nest of leftist bird turds.

I don’t know, it seems to me that the left and Islam’s sharia are coming to a meeting of the minds here. Christianity to be outlawed by both sides, who will then fight it out. My money’s on the muzzies in that event, at least until the antichrist shuts both of them down. Of course if he’s a leftist (likely), the left will worship unreservedly anyway, like they did when they had schoolchildren singing hymns to Hussein, in which they replaced the name of the Lord Jesus Christ with Hussein’s name.

Does she pay everyone a livable wage? At least $15 an hour? Provide insurance? Retirement? Profit sharing?

Does she know that the little immigrant girl crying was not separated from her family? Did she support Obama during this policy?

Wonder if the IRS should investigate her returns (personal and business) for the past few years.

Although Lexington was anti-Trump awhile back, what does Lexington think of Pres. Trump now?

Leftards show how much they are against discrimination by kicking her out. What about kicking out blacks and homos?
