Q: I feel scarred and robbed of an entire day by having to wait at the Los Gatos DMV for nine hours and still having to go back the next day to complete a half-hour transaction.

Two things have happened here. One illegal aliens in California can get driver's licenses and over one million have done so. You get to get in line behind them. Two since illegals can get driver's licenses in California your current license is worthless as ID and you have to go get a "real ID". Thanks Jerry Brown.

My wife just went through this. She had to wait 6 1/2 hours. Lady in line was back for a 2nd time because she never received her renewal license. Driving on a temporary. Same wait. Just ridiculous.

The Massachusetts DMV is actually a pleasure these days——it used to be an absolute nightmare.

I waited three and a half hours to get a “Real ID” in NY State.

That was two days ago, June 19th. The reason given was that the Federal Government requires “two pairs of eyes” on every form.

I basically had to wait for the second pair of eyes to get back from lunch, since I showed up at 11:10 and waited an hour to get to the first pair of eyes.

I thought most all states let you renew by mail. The backwards Southern State I live in lets you.

That’s so Guam! California has become Guam!

Welcome to the 3rd world part of the US.

You can only renew by mail a limited number of times. Then you have to in for a test.

California has a pretty good DMV appointment system. I have an appointment in late July for my license test for renewal. You do need to plan far ahead because of all the illegals as others up-thread have pointed out. You need to book your appointment 6 to 8 week’s ahead!

PA isn't exactly on the cutting edge of progress but you can renew on line...only reason to go to a DMV is for the picture-taking. Takes about 15 minutes every four years.

For most DMV matters you can quickly resolve them at the AAA office.

Premium membership is about $100 per year; you get four tows or lockouts, or whatever.

Just NOT waiting in that long line makes it worth it, all by itself.

CA DMV is one of the biggest con jobs in the country...Robbery with a frown and ya get zip in return except higher taxes, higher registration fees, more regulations...on and on and on.

We drive to the next county seat to do any driver tests, ect. They are efficient and kind. Our local is like an inner city DMV. ‘Swag-headed’ “Cleopatras” with ‘hair hats’ yelling at us constantly. Disgraceful. Thank gawd we have a choice. Even the SS office is better.

In Missouri, I have to wait about 15 minutes without an appointment. The license offices are run by non-profits. Everyone speaks English and is polite.

It is a long process even over here in Alabama. Took hours. Ridiculous but that is how it is. One doesn’t get a REAL ID everyday thank goodness.

Another very nice version: On And On, performed by Kenny Rankin.

NYS DMV has an online registration system that (fortunately) few people use.

I made a reservation and went last week.

It took them about 10 minutes to call my number. The only problem I had was when I had to step around all the people who didn't make a reservation and who were waiting several hours.

They seemed angry at me.

LOL!

My parents go to the DMV in Quincy when they’re up in that area. They say it’s a breeze.
