Not me. But I welcome any attempts to simplify the tax code. Not sure this is it but maybe it's a start.
IF this new 1040 form is NOT enclosed into an envelope——Identity Theft will soar.
I would NEVER put such sensitive information onto a ‘postcard’.
How about no card whatsoever?
Isn’t most of the data to prepare taxes (W2, 1098, 1099, etc.) already sent to FedGov? Couldn’t my property tax info go to FedGov also?
How about the IRS consolidate the data, calculate my tax return, send me a link to the calculation, give me X days to enter any adjustments, and from there automatically send me a check or a bill?
There’s no incentive in DC to make the policy less complex, or the process easier. Too many libtard giveaways, too much pork, empires of bureaucracy and an incurable deafness to those of us who pay taxes.
Schedule E-—F—SE—and many others.
I would NEVER put such sensitive information onto a postcard.
Um...how do you get your 1040's? Are they sent to you pre-printed with all your personal information? Because I generally get mine blank online and I file them electronically or if I mail them I put them in an envelope.
It just says they'll be the "size" of a postcard, not that they will be on a postcard.
“But you will need a electron microscope to read the print.”
my first thought as well ...
MAYBE a 1040EZ. It would take a lot of changes to the tax law to get a full 1040 on a post card! That, or a font size of 1 on the print.
If all someone has is a W2, calculating taxes is easy. But rent property out, or have a small business, or sell things on eBay, or own stocks/mutual funds, trade in bitcoin, have kids in college, etc - all of that has a big impact on the taxes you owe.
It will NOT fit on a post card!
Will they rename the postcard version “1040-EZ” or something more clever....maybe “1040-PZ”?
The new law has taken me back to a 1040EZ after 20 years.
I don’t have 10k worth of deductions. Around 8 or so.
Tax Bracket is lower for me.
The tax preparation companies fight proposals like yours tooth and nail claiming it would put them out of business.
Like you I also believe tax time would be much simpler if it was done your way. Unfortunately the Tax Preparation lobby will never allow it to happen.
actually can be that small if you havent anything complicated like a business to run or, cant afford investemenst (or live on the dole)
one size socialism ...
Thanks!
Just what I was thinking. Very simplified. A little unfair perhaps.
I do.
