As far as anyone has said....no one has seen McCain around in a number of weeks. So this letter is probably written by the chief of staff in McCain’s office.
These are not 'displaced' people. These are people who have chosen to leave their own countries, bypass Mexico (if not from Mexico), and illegally enter the US. It's not as though they were pushed out of their homelands.
Persecuted? If they are being persecuted in Central America and Mexico, then why haven't McCain and others condemned Mexico and these Central American countries for persecuting their citizens? Why isn't the main story the persecution of people in these countries? If this persecution is occurring, then shouldn't the focus be on holding the offending governments accountable?

We need to demand an appearance by McCain. He talks a lot, but is never seen.
Ought to be some kind of rule that if you don’t appear once a month in the Senate chamber....your status is revoked and the governor can fill the slot.
