Full title..............'There's no replacing him': Arizona Republicans say it's 'inappropriate' to talk about the future of John McCain's seat as he battles terminal brain cancer................Senator John McCain's legacy was thrust into focus nearly one year ago when he announced his brain cancer diagnosis. The six-term Senator and decorated Vietnam War veteran is now fighting the illness from his beloved Arizona, and filling the role of one of the few Congressional Republican voices to publicly rebuke Trump administration decisions.

Yet the question of what happens if McCain steps down from office before 2022 is a lingering one, casting an uncomfortable haze around the future of a seat that can't quite ever be filled.

'John McCain is a one-of-a-kind politician, and there's no replacing him,' said Stan Barnes, an Arizona Republican consultant. 'No one serving in political office today remembers a time when John McCain was not representing us in Washington.'

Some Arizona Republicans have criticized conversations about the future of McCain's seat as inappropriate. But reflections around the 81-year-old statesman's life, legacy and status as a national political figure have resurfaced via a new HBO documentary, 'John McCain: For Whom the Bell Tolls,' and his new memoir, 'The Restless Wave.'

Arizona Republicans say it's 'inappropriate'
================

Which ones?

AZ might even be a good place to live except for the swamp geezers that kept a pos like McCain in power.

Oh, yeah, and the place is overrun with wetbacks too.

Can’t think of Arizona anymore without flashing on McCain.

He thinks he’s having he last laugh right now.

No John, we’ll be ripping you until the last of us who have had to suffer your insults, have passed on.

As for Flake, he’ll never be the sell-out you honed to a fine art form.

“...I’m amazed he has lasted this long....”

Being kept alive by the absolute, very BEST medical treatments available in the entire world, while he saddled the “unwashed masses” with odongoCare. IF he were under odongoCare, he’d been gone a long time ago.

The people of Arizona have two living Senators but, neither of them represent the voters in the state of Arizona. McCain is dying and cannot travel to Washington, DC to vote and Jeff Flake...the 100% fake flake is useless.

Know how I know McCain is a fraud? One of my Liberal friends kinda got upset with me when I said something bad about him!

If this Liberal likes him, defends him and still thinks he’s a ‘hero’ then they don’t know WHICH end is up.

On my worst day in this wheelchair I’d be a better United States Senator than John McCain ever was. Bill Buckley’s quote about the first 400 names in the Boston phone book comes to mind.

No replacing him?

There are dozens of piles of dog poop outside on my lawn. I could pick any one of them and it could EASILY replace McCain.

And it would do a better job, too.

I am saddened that his tumor will have to die with him.

That is so selfless.

Everyone is replaceable. It is also very appropriate to talk about succession of a Senate seat when a Senator is dying and refuses to attend votes.

It is time for politicians to publicly rebuke Senator McCain for not thinking of his constituents and making a selfish spectacle out of this.

Everyone is replaceable. You and I included as well as John McCain. However, one must ask is it appropriate for McCain to try to influence his replacement?

I posit that both are appropriate. McCain has held that seat for years and wants to continue his legacy, that I support about 50% and totally abhor and condemn for the other 50%. The Republican party must retain that seat thus it is proper to discuss his replacement.

The governor of Arizona is now the "Kingmaker." I suspect this irritates Senator McCain greatly.

This is just the way it is!

I’m amazed he has lasted this long, if he is truly still alive. My brother died of cancer in 2003 and once it hit his brain, the end came pretty fast.
**************************************************
There are currently some VERY promising immunotherapy treatments for his type of cancer undergoing double blind testing. It would not surprise me if McCain pulled some strings and got himself enrolled in said tests. The strings he would pull would also insure that he was in the group getting the actual treatments and not in the group receiving placebos.

to me this is sickening. the man is dying and his moron elite party is trying to keep him active for his RINO vote. John, quit it now, spend time with your family while you can. Get right with God, You are NOT going to be written in history as a hero anyway so just drop this stupid crap and tell your wife , daughter, and dog, we are not going to elect them because we feel sorry for your sickness.

There's no replacing him

Actually, he could be replaced by a pile of rocks. That would be a great change because a pile of rocks can't vote against the best interests of the American people.
