Korea, the long-forgotten war fought by a long-forgotten generation, is, thanks to President Donald Trump, finally back on the front burner.

This came about due to Trump’s extraordinary summit Monday with Kim Jong Un.

As part of the denuclearization deal, the North Korean leader committed to the recovery and repatriation of the remains of some 6,000 U.S. soldiers killed in North Korea.

If nothing else comes out of the summit, this alone is an important accomplishment.

Bringing home the remains of 6,000 long-dead soldiers is a good thing, but it would be a whole heck of a lot better to bring home the 36,000 living soldiers stationed in Korea today.

I agree too. I thought the current soldiers was what the writer was talking about until I read the article.

Why are there so many negative Nancys about this summit? Was everyone watching Rachel Maddow?

I was just thinking of that. One son is still there. The other came home about a year ago. Let’s come home.

If the NORKS actually do denuclearize and then sign a peace treaty ending the war, we will most likely start the process of pulling troops out of Korea. That's still a number of years away though. Patience my friend.

I want all of our soldiers to come home as well. I just keep thinking about the North Vietnamese rolling tanks into the South back in ‘75. I think the South Koreans are in ultimately better shape to defend themselves though.

Partly, yes.

Mostly, because if President Trump succeeds, the Progressive project for the country is dealt a severe set-back, maybe defeated for a generation!

But there isn’t any reason to leave our forces in Europe in Germany. Move them to a friendly country like Poland.

I agree, I'm all for forward deploying them to Poland. Maybe keep the air bases in Germany. The Fulda Gap is now secure, Germany can protect herself. We are not on the hook for the Muslim hordes they are currently allowing in their country.

First step in a long game. The goal is reunification, but that may, and probably will, take a number of years. The Chinese are both drivers and brakemen in the thing - too fast and they lose their buffer state without any benefit, too slow and they end up paying for the project. But a withdrawal of U.S. troops is an integral part of the thing, and we might actually find ourselves in the weird position of North Korea asking them to stay for a while longer as leverage to use against the Chinese. Anything is possible.

The remains are not diverse enough. Not enough corpses of color. And none of the fallen are BBQWTF. Therefore, Trump is a racist bigot.
