Washington (CNN)

President Donald Trump's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, said Sunday that the President should not testify before special counsel Robert Mueller because "our recollection keeps changing."

Giuliani made the comment when asked about fellow Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow's contradictory remarks on whether the President weighed in on a statement put out about his son Donald Trump Jr.'s controversial 2016 meeting with Russians at Trump Tower.

Translation: Trump is an irresponsible and careless talker, indifferent to facts and unburdened by any sense of a need for consistency from one conversation to the next. We all know this. Trump partisans think this is high strategery, the mark of an ace negotiator and political mastermind, and a tool of the 4-D chess they think he is playing. Others of us just think Trump’s mouth is an unguided missile. Either way, given that Mueller is likely to be setting perjury traps, Trump talking to him would be like playing Russian roulette with five chambers loaded. Unless and until Mueller shows evidence of a serious underlying crime, Trump would be incredibly reckless to agree to an oral interview. A written interrogatory would be ok. Of course, Trump is reckless, so anything is possible.

I think Rudy made it pretty clear this weekend that the President will not be sitting down with Robert Mueller.

It is illogical and irrational to subpoena a sitting president. The precedent would result in endless demands and subpoenas of sitting presidents. If the tables were turned you would be told this over and over again by the MSM, PBS panel discussions, journal articles, erudite professors, etc.

That would NEVER happen with a Democrat. This angry cabal of Democrats are taking advantage of the gentle and weak-wristed eRepublicans, by keeping themselves in the limelight with nit-picking concerns about collusion and how something was or was not said.

It is nice to see the Republicans like Rudy show what Manning up is all about.

All the Mueller team has accomplished is spending money, keeping the never Trumpers and Trump haters appeased.

Enough of that! We all have better ways to spend our time. I am surprised and disappointed that so many Republicans let this happen at all; they look weak and foolish.

Testimony given by a defendant to a prosecutor or law enforcement can only be used against the defendant and not in the defense of a defendant.

Trump in not under investigation and has not been charged with a violation or crime, but you can be certain that Mueller would use any statement by a Trump against him.

I think he's doing a great job reminding the Democrats and their liberal media enablers who's in charge and that it's not Robert Mueller.

I'm enjoying the hell outta this!

GO RUDY!!!

Memory is a really tricky process.

Where did you have lunch on July 14, 2015? No idea? I show you an emergency room discharge report from July 13, 2015. Remember twisting your ankle? Oh, and the next day you had lunch at McDonalds. OK.

But, it turns out that I am the FBI. And. I got the discharge report falsified. It was actually July 17, 2015. And, you did have lunch at McDonalds but it was on July 18, 2015. Too bad. Prison for you.

He’s actually correct on that and that’s why witnesses especially after a period if time make the worst evidence in court. There’s actually been psychological studies on this issue. However, you don’t need all that, just from your own personal experience you know that you could be recalling something that happened a couple years beforehand with somebody that was there as well and they’re like “no that’s not what happened” and you’re “yeah that is what happened”
It’s just the way it is.

And any “obstruction” stemming from that should be “fruit of the poisonous tree” A side can’t be allowed to make up s**** just to try to entrap someone, esp a PRESIDENT to overstepping his bounds to find out WTF is going on

GET RID of MUELLER and his THUGS

He’s correct though. However that’s not even the reason POTUS shouldn’t be questioned.

What damage is Rudy doing, besides giving Democrats (and several weak-kneed FReepers) the vapors?

OMG!! Rudy IS the story....Mueller SHOULD be the story!

The story right now is, "If you try to subpoena my client, the President of the United States, we may tell you to go pound sand."

It's about time someone on Trump's side stands up to this farce!
