2018 Elections: California Is Where The Democrats Are Facing A 'Self-Inflicted Disaster'

It’s been said before: the only thing that could potentially stop the Democrats from retaking the House is…the Democrats. Yet, there are other factors. First, is that Election Day was still far off when reports of record enthusiasm on the Left was reported. Second, there’s the continued positive news on the economic front. Consumer and small business confidence remains at record highs.  Over three million workers benefitting from Trump’s tax bill, along with over 250 companies. Now, at the same time, we still have a long ways to go, but polling shows that Democratic enthusiasm has cratered.

The ballot advantage for Democrats has also shrunk within single-digits—all of this is good news for the GOP. What we should be mindful of is the far left insurgency. The Democratic establishment has been brutally beaten by the far Left in the past couple of primaries, though they had a lackluster turnout in the Texas runoff. Nevertheless, this is where the Democratic Party is heading. All the more reason for why GOP voters need to turn out in 2018.

California is part of the path for the Democratic takeover. Yet, there’s a problem. The deep-blue state has so many Democrats running in several races that they could splinter the vote. Whittling down the field to where only Republicans appear on the ballot. In California, the two top vote getters in a primary advance to the general election, even if they’re from the same party. This has sent Democrats into panic mode (via NYT):

National Democrats, confronting mushrooming political chaos across Southern California, are pouring millions of dollars into congressional races to avert a self-inflicted disaster that could undermine their chances at taking control of the House.

After months of optimism that the state’s June 5 primary would position them to pick off seven Republican-held districts in November — a substantial down payment on reclaiming the House — Democrats are now trying to ensure that they do not hurt themselves because of their unusually crowded slates of candidates.

With so many Democrats running, the party’s fear is that the vote will be splintered, allowing Republicans — who have fewer candidates — to dominate some primaries. The party and allied groups are spending more than $4 million on just three campaigns, intervening in one contest to prop up a favored candidate; attacking a Republican from the right in another; and even reminding people not to waste their votes on “ghost candidates” who have dropped out yet remain on the ballot.

As any progressive activist will explain through gnashed teeth, the head-snapping scramble is because of the state’s “top two” open primary system, which allows the two leading vote-getters — regardless of political parties — to advance to the general election.

[…]

“It’s a disaster,” Gail Reisman, a retired gerontologist and Toronto native who lives in Representative Dana Rohrabacher’s district, said after attending a candidate forum Tuesday. “If we have two Republicans running I think I’m going back to Canada.”

California voters head to the polls on June 5.

Latest from CA early voting: Ds requested 19% more ballots than Rs, but so far only lead Rs by 10% in returned ballots (statewide). Pretty good sign. This means a lot of contested races may go R.

give out free heroine. YAAAAAAAHOOOOOOOO!

Actually not a bad idea.

Any addict that wants help should be given help to rid them of addiction. Give them three chances and then you are out. Most addicts do not want to get clean. Give them high quality clean heroin and clean needles. As such, they will not rob and or kill my family or I to get money for heroin or fentanyl. These addicts also have a high probability of eliminating themselves from society and this is good.

There is also the Singapore solution. At one time Singapore had a horrific drug problem. Today in Singapore if you are a drug user you go to jail for relative short time but a most unpleasant time. If you sell drugs, you are executed. Singapore does not have a drug problem today.

I must disagree. The Gestapo was very efficient until their end.

I would develop poop map commercials, all approved by Democrats of course. The videos would be enough to make ya gag and recoil! These commercials can be done cheap too!☺

We had an idiot running for Pete Sessions’ seat who said in one ad, “My little girl asked me if bullies always win, since one won the preisdency.” In another, he said, “My father, Donald, was a doctor. I’m going to listen to that Donald—not Donald Trump—and go to Washington to fight to keep Obamacare!”

He lost big league. The idiot who won the recent runoff is a former NFL player and he seems to be making gun-grabbing his big issue. The Democrats are pouring a lot of money into his race because Clinton won the district. I think it was more a bunch of NeverTrumper Republican idiots than the district going left, or at least I hope.

Some state in the northeast recently smugly announced that all of their electors will go to the winner of the popular vote regardless of who actually won the state. You can bet that rule will be ignored if President Trump were to get the popular vote.
