Ireland has voted in a landslide to overturn the country's decades-old ban on abortion in a major victory for abortion rights activists, according to an exit poll from The Irish Times.

A poll conducted on Friday by Ipsos/MRBI for the Times as voting commenced suggests that as much as 68 percent of voters chose to support the referendum overturning the ban, compared to just 32 percent who voted to keep the practiced banned.

I might be wrong on this (maybe) but because politics is downstream of culture (as Brietbart said) I think there were a couple of things that might have contributed to what went on at the polls.

I’m thinking of the piece done on “The Magdalene Laundries” by 60 Minutes,

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/magdalen-laundries-women-confined-in-convents/

and also the 2013 movie “Philomena” produced by Harvey Weinstein.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2431286/

both of which sought to drive home what a horrible, dreadful thing it was for a woman to have to bring her baby to term and give it up.

Remember when Ireland used to be a Catholic nation? Those days are long gone. They have sold their birthright for the false-god of pop culture and EU prosperity. The ones who aren’t aborted will live to regret it.

Why is it so hard to use preventative birth control? abortion as a birth control method is disgusting and unbelievably cruel.

Frankly, it's the birth control mentality that leads to acceptance of abortion. Once you consider an unborn child an inconvenience, you're 90% of the way toward accepting abortion as a reasonable thing.

You're absolutely right.

Moreover, the birth control mentality doesn't speak well of how a man sees a woman. The very nature of her body is a dreadful inconvenience to him.

Hardly surprising....the US did the same thing ...the ‘people’ have spoken what the majority want. Expect planned parenthood to open very soon.

((Some of the young women who voted for this will live long enough to see the dominance of Islam and the crushing of their “equality”.))

Very true!

I have many friends who believe that completely and act on it. They will never vote for a pro-abort candidate, even if he or she is much better than the other candidate in every possible way.

There are videos on YouTube in which people from various countries react to American things like sports, food, TV shows, etc. and vice versa. The Irish used in the videos seemed to have an attitude that they were better than Americans & seemed to look down on us. It made me sad as someone who has relatives that came from Ireland and who never looked at Ireland in that way. I got the feeling from them that Ireland is quite liberal. Ireland isn’t the same country today that it was when that law was put in place.

I’m knocking Irish for not going to church

Cause if they did they’d have lower rate of bastard kids and single moms and not have voted making baby killing legal

Sick

Is that bashing Catholics?

Quite the opposite

Another ripple in the descent into the sewer before Jesus returns to set things right - and the only reason any of us are looked at as being any better than them by God is that we have accepted His Blood as a payment for our sins.

“Frankly, it’s the birth control mentality that leads to acceptance of abortion. Once you consider an unborn child an inconvenience, you’re 90% of the way toward accepting abortion as a reasonable thing.”

Agreed. And after western civilization accepted birth control and abortions as “reasonable” it paved the way for the homosexualization of western culture as well.
