Netflix host “Science Guy” Bill Nye has a new solution for the world’s environmental problems: taxing cow farts.
“Well, this is what we can do and it’s a win-win: to have a fee on carbon. So if you are raising livestock and producing a lot of carbon dioxide with your farm equipment and the exhaust from the animals, then you would pay a fee on that and it would be reflected in the price of meat, reflected in the price of fish, reflected in the price of peanuts,” Bill Nye said in a recent interview with the Daily Beast.
“This would be a free-market way to reckon the real cost of a meat diet to the world,” Nye continued. “But conservatives now are against such a thing because they’re against any regulation, any tax or any government involvement in anything. But again, it won’t last, and a carbon fee would be a fantastic thing for the world.

We need a tax on every crazy idea about a tax. We could tax the liberal idiots out of existence. I would gladly pay a tax for THIS tax idea.

I think Ben Nye the Make-Up Guy has done more for the world than his partial namesake.
(Ben was the make-up guy for Gone With the Wind and the original Planet of the Apes, among other movies, and his cosmetics have been selling for the last half century. I never taught cosmetology because I don't believe in make-up exams, but I digress.)

I don’t think the cows are going to cooperate.
There’s a county proposal on our upcoming ballot for a flooding tax added to property taxes to help control flooding on the Truckee River. The whole county would be subject to the tax even though a tiny portion would be effected by river flooding. The areas that have a flooding issue from a different source are NOT addressed in the language of the proposal. Uh, NO!
