Bernie Sanders: NRA to blame for lack of action on gun control
The Hill ^ | 05/20/18 | Mallory Shelbourne

Posted on 05/20/2018 2:01:46 PM PDT by Simon Green

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in an interview on Sunday blamed the National Rifle Association (NRA) for the lack of action in Congress on gun control legislation.

Sanders told host Chuck Todd on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that it’s “unspeakable” that students are no longer surprised by school shootings.

“It’s a three-letter word. It’s the NRA,” Sanders said. “And it’s Trump and the Republicans who don’t have the guts to stand up to these people and that’s pretty pathetic."

Sanders’s remarks come after 10 people were killed in a shooting at a high school in Texas late last week.

The Vermont senator, who caucuses with Democrats, said “of course” the upper chamber has not done enough on gun control legislation.

“But it’s like every other issue. The American people are united overwhelmingly,” he said, referring to “common sense” gun reform policies.

Incoming NRA President Oliver North also hit the Sunday show circuit, emphasizing the need for metal detectors in schools during an interview with "Fox News Sunday."

“You’re not going to fix it by taking away the rights of law-abiding citizens,” North said.

Someone tell Bernie that the purpose of the 2nd and of the NRA is to stop people like him imposing their ideas on us.

“he said, referring to “common sense” gun reform policies.”

I wish they could make up their minds. Is it:

1) “Common Sense Gun Control”
2) “Common Sense Gun Reform” (not sure how guns can be ‘reformed’, though)
3) “Common Sense Gun ‘Safety’ (legislation)”
4) “Common Sense Gun Laws”
5) “Common Sense Gun Policies”
6) “Common Sense Gun Legislation”

No the Anti Gun Jihad, with their infantile fixation on a failed 1960s era political dogma on Guns is why there is no progress. Instead of looking at real solutions to the problem they are shamelessly using these tragedies to pimp their political dogma.

The Anti Gun Jihad is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in an interview on Sunday blamed the National Rifle Association (NRA) for the lack of action in Congress on gun control legislation.

Good, then my NRA dues are going to a good cause. The NRA is doing their job - protecting my rights.

The reason I say a lack of action on "gun control" is a good thing is "gun control" will not work. So-called "gun control" will not prevent or even reduce crime. In fact reason, logic, and actual evidence demonstrates that "gun control" actually increases crime. With a disarmed and relatively defenseless pool of potential victims criminals become emboldened. We've had "gun control" here for 30 years give or take. There are literally thousands of "gun control" laws on the books across the US. How well are they working? Exactly.

So Bernie baby, say it with me: "gun control" has not worked, does not work, and in-fact never can or will work. All "gun control" legislation is based on the fanciful belief that criminals will obey these laws while preparing to break dozens of others. The foolishness, in fact sheer idiocy behind such thinking is breathtaking.

What we really need is crime control. Stop coddling criminals. Punishment should be swift, severe, and a significant deterrent.

We also need a fundamental shift in society - back to a time when it was ok to tell kids they won or lost. Get them used to handling disappointment. Get them to realize they are not the center of the universe. Stop trying to medicate everyone into happy little drones - it does not work.

We need real mental health support again - including institutionalizing people. There are some people who literally should not be walking around free and clear in society. A lot of that has to do with genetic issues, disease, and simply mistakes made during their upbringing. You can't just put them on psycho-active drugs and turn them loose.

Finally, we need to start seriously shaming politicians like you Bernie, and the Clintons, and the rest of their ilk. All the people who would use a tragedy like this to advance a purely political un-American and anti-American disarmament agenda.

Bernie. You are sadly on the side of those beliefs, philosophies, and political opinions that lead to the greatest tragedies in the world - and you are either oblivious to or incapable of understanding this. Venezuela has soaring rates of murder. Why? Socialism, clearly.

Weapons are tools. There are many tools that are capable of killing human beings. In actuality, the most profoundly effective tool for killing human beings has been politics - and in the past century it has been the politics of resentment established by Marx, that has led to multiple cruel and brutal totalitarian regimes and to the deaths of 100s of millions. For you to embrace this, Bernie, indicates that you have limited intellect. I say this charitably - because to think otherwise would be to think that you are aware of the destruction you embrace.

Murders are skyrocketing in Venezuela. Is this because of a change in gun policy? No. It is because of the implementation of the political philosophy you embrace, Bernie.

I don't own a gun. Never have. That said, I wholeheartedly support the second amendment, because of people like you, Bernie. People like you, who support totalitarian governments run by those who want to dictate a way of life to the rest of us. Those you support have to be resisted and put down. Your ‘intellect’ is clearly flawed, and your insistence in supporting death-inducing political philosophy is also a sign that your ethics and morality are as flawed as your intellect. In short, you're a pathetic, self-centered, unethical, idiot.

if Bernie wants to see ‘action’ on guns, he is welcome to try to start taking them away

Blame is the wrong word Bernie. The NRA is one to thank for the lack of action on gun control.

I LOVE THAT!

When I was in High School (’74-’78) we brought our guns and knives and fishing gear (sharp hooks - Oh, No!) to school with us each day; locked in the trunks or beds of our beater Chevy cars and trucks!

We had an hour or so after school to hunt or fish before we had to be home for chores and then supper.

If a fight broke out for some reason, there was no way in the WORLD that we’d take out our guns, or even a knife.

THAT WAS CHEATIN’!

Kids are really at a disadvantage these days. Yes, words can HURT, but a well-placed punch in the face hurts a helluvalot MORE! ;)

Sanders remembers well how guns were everywhere when he was young, and how “mass” shootings were aberrations rather than the nearly everyday occurrences they are in America today.

One would think he'd realize the overall social causations cast seismically since at least the sixties has relatively little to do with guns in America, but with "evolution" in political thought, even to the point of anarchy. One dare not call it ideology.

He knows too that nothing of any lasting value will issue from his political philosophy, as demonstrated over and over through from history. Though naturally, his applications of the same old Marxist bromides, will be perfect.

What a loser.
