May 19 (UPI) -- Everyone is "considered a customer" and purchases are not required to use Starbucks cafes, including its restrooms, according to a new policy announced Saturday.
The policy change comes a month after a Philadelphia Starbucks manager called police about two black men who were sitting inside the restaurant waiting for a friend without ordering anything.
The policy announcement, sent via a letter to employees, said that "any person who enters our spaces, including patios, cafes and restrooms, regardless of whether they make a purchase, is considered a customer," The Wall Street Journal reported.
Previously, company's guidelines were vague on how to treat lingering non-paying guests
the “coffee” stinks (no flavor at all, watered down so weak...)....
and now the rooms will stink too
congratulations, Star*ucks management.. you’re *ucking up your business... royally! ha!
(investor lawsuit time...investor lawsuit time...)
hey can I bring my dunkin donuts coffee and bearclaw over there and tap away on my laptop?
The homeless can leave the public libraries..and the teens can hangout..
Why haven’t they built showers and bunk beds for the homeless? Just opening up your standard washrooms doesn’t go far enough. And what about free beverages and food for our less fortunate brethren? Aren’t most of their employees college graduates? Shouldn’t they be teaching basic skills, English as a second language and hygiene?
Hopefully word gets out to the homeless.
I always wondered how they succeeded for this long.
My guess is the company will be dead within a few years.
Bring your own sleeping bag, cardboard box and push cart.
The only reason I will ever go to Starbucks is to make a deposit, not a withdrawal.
Hopefully a nice steamy one...
Starbucks has been trying to prove that they aren’t racist, prove they are liberal, etc. and so, they come up with this new policy.
What will they do when there are unintended consequences, that’s the question. If they have critical numbers of homeless and druggies etc. flocking there, who by their mere presence, drive away paying customers, then what?
Will we see, on a smaller scale in individual Starbucks locations, the forces at work which have caused many shopping malls to go out of business? And those malls went downhill because the bad elements there scared off paying customers. Is Starbucks going to experience this?
Just wait until the full summer heat. Fun times!
Everyone should stop by, use their RR and order a timber float to go!

Looks like an excellent opportunity to clean up shorting this stock.
They are doing their best to redistribute money. High prices, free place for non-paying people. That is not going to work. Paying customers will go somewhere else. Parasites will settle in. Gonna be fun to watch. Starbucks bankrupt in 3 years.
I hope every Starbucks in every blue city gets flooded with smelly homeless.
Starbucks gonna need to arm its baristas.
