Farm Bill Goes Down in House
Rollcall ^ | May 18, 2018

Posted on 05/18/2018 9:41:09 AM PDT by SMGFan

In a major blow to Republican leaders and after a week full of drama and last-minute vote wrangling, the House failed to pass a farm bill Friday, with several Freedom Caucus members voting no in protest to a lack of immediate action on immigration.

The bill failed 198-213. House GOP leaders had been touting the bill as a fulfillment of their campaign promise to overhaul welfare programs. The vote also brings the GOP’s intraparty fissures further into public view. Thirty Republicans joined all Democrats in voting it down.

The cost of food is negligible compared to the cost of losing our country.

Honestly, I am personally OK with that. Limiting immigration will drive up food costs.

...

And then technology will drive it back down. Modern slavery (use of illegal labor) hinders innovation.

Totally agree.
Heck, I PAY more now because I get food from places I KNOW don’t use illegal labor.

Hint. I don’t buy $0.99 eggs.

Preach.

For my money, nobody on the green left can say word freakin’ one to me unless and until they end ethanol.

If they can’t get the left to end that obvious bit of corporate welfare for other corporate leftists, then don’t tell me anything about warming.

Farm Bill Goes Down in House: Accusations of sexual assault by the Farm Bill.

All will be settled by House litigation fund. Inquiries are directed to Michael Cohen.

Under Jimmah Cahtah, ethanol was subsidized as a way of “stretching” the oil supply. There was no talk about the emissions involved.

Now, it has the aura of “national security commodity” due to climate change and “lowered emissions.

C2H4O + O2 = H2O + CO2 (stoichiometry not included)
Yep more of that deadly CO2.

**Do you want food prices to increase by at least 20%**

Well, move to the far north of NH or VT. It's 100%

It'll happen, overnight. Food shopping desert. I'm a victim. Surrounded by all this distracting beauty.

Food prices go up because of insanity like shutting down California’s Central Valley to save a minnow.

What does overhaul of welfare programs have to do with a farm bill?
Accidental transparency?

Kakocracy in action...

Let’s try to give the Freedom Caucus more help in the primary elections.

Unless this thread has confused me, doofus, the so-called "freedom caucus" is part of the problem...

Food prices go up because of insanity like shutting down California’s Central Valley to save a minnow.

Which all died anyway, due to the prolonged drought.
Along with millions of other swimming and crawling critters.

Quadrillions of gallons of wasted water, dumped in the Pacific Ocean.

The Bugs and Bunny crowd are not MENSA members...

Corn? Ethanol ?

My mechanic informed me that one of the local filling stations is now carrying booze-free gas in the medium octane grade; so I'm trying it out now.

Because consumers adapted and demand never really fell. Producers then see that consumers are willing to pay said price - so no incentive to lower them.
