. President Trump is making Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) a top target this fall, underlining his drive to protect the GOP’s Senate majority even it if means going after a relatively friendly Democrat.

Trump told Republican senators in a closed-door meeting Tuesday that he plans to spend significant time campaigning against Manchin, who represents a state won by the president over Hillary Clinton by 42 points.

One GOP senator said Trump promised to visit the state “several times.”

Fine to target dems, as long as rethuglicans do not waste our time replacing them with even slimier RINOs.

The rats are probably happy to see this non PC hillbilly out of the senate. With Manchin back in the hills their cadre is completely purged.

Manchin is a jerk. He had the opportunity to jump parties. Glad he didn’t.

Case in point: Rep. Gov. Rick Scott here in Florida running against Sen. Bill Nelson. Beware of Scott unless you enjoy a knife in the back.

The President’s track record in recent elections has not been that great, and it’s due to the fact that he gets stuck supporting mediocre candidates. Morrissey and Braun have to do their part, and perhaps time spent on making sure that they don’t make major blunders along the way might be in order.

No one is touting Bill Nelson. However some of us can recognize a traitor and fake conservative when we see one and won't reward him with our vote. But go ahead and enjoy your Bush-McCain-Rove GOPe koolaid.

If we had to keep one Democrat, I’d keep Manchin. I would focus on other states with less friendly Trump Democrats because if Manchin wins, that will kill any hopes of him doing anything for Trump because his term will end at the end of Trump’s second term (presuming Trump gets reelected).

The purist mentality won’t help. I disagreed with Scott’s gun law changes, and he’s not as conservative as I would like, but he is a Trump ally and a vote in the Senate. Nelson is not. It would be stupid to put Nelson in the Senate to oppose Scott’s gun law compromise. Nelson would go even further and would likely vote to impeach Trump.

Too many of you are forgetting the Buckley rule. Our hopes are with Scott in Florida. Any of you remember Katherine Harris? I do because she was pretty hot. Even with establishment support(not there) she would have lost.

WV is obviously right next door to the beltway. POTUS can just fly in on Marine One I would think. Getting out to places like Montana is a bit more of a scheduling issue.
