Canada will soon recognize new gender options on its formal government surveys, paving the way for an overhauled census and a recognition of the need for greater inclusion in its statistical models.
In future data collection – including the 2021 census – respondents will find a new question on gender identity. Instead of just male or female, respondents will be provided with a third option, which they are asked to indicate how they identify.

I have to say the social conservative side of my brain says male or female, but the libertarian side says, up to each individual how they identify themselves in society.
I am not confused about my gender but perhaps it is overly presumptive to say that nobody else should be.
Anyway, we have a male feminist prime minister so I suppose a third gender is inevitable. However, any American who thinks most Canadian men are milquetoasts compared to themselves just obviously hasn’t been up here (outside the cities), our pick-up trucks and our hats are at least the equal of your own. And have you ever seen Canadian women wandering the streets looking for a good man? Thought not.
We even go into wars at the start when they’re toughest (ooh now that’s going to leave a mark).
They can call the third one “Pat”.
To think that that hilarious skit from SNL just a few years could not even be aired today makes me sick.
In actuality I see no reason why they could not have a third option.
I just don’t see a need for any others at all.
WE COULD just check the third one in revolt just to destroy the whole accuracy of the survey.
