Two senior House Republicans are accusing the Justice Department of being behind anonymous attacks in the press targeting a House Intelligence Committee GOP staffer who helped author the committees well-publicized memo alleging surveillance abuse by the FBI and DOJ during the 2016 election.
The same House staffer is also a driving force behind the latest Russia records standoff.
"I would have a lot more respect for DOJ or House committee Democrats if they would take out their frustrations on members of Congress, and leave staffers alone, South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy, the Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, told Fox News on Monday. The members make the final decision and are responsible for them, not staffers."
"Attacking staffers, planting false stories, and endangering national security by leaking sensitive information to the press, including information about intelligence sources -- this is what the DOJ is doing, and this why trust in the DOJ is rapidly eroding in Congress, said California Rep. Devin Nunes, the GOP chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

Stocking up on plenty of popcorn.....
The face of an evil man.
I wouldnt say DOJ. To me it sounds like a saboteur within the DOJ. But I suppose Gowdy feels that if you blame it on the DOJ as a whole then youre more likely to get satisfaction.
Sessions allegedly runs the DoJ (and FIB).
He doesn’t seem interested in mucking out the stables. Until he does, painting with a broad brush seems fair.

Q
Has anyone..been indicted?
Has anyone...been charged with anything?
NO
NO
And NO........
If it is the DOJ then why not address Sessions about it?
Zero indictments.
Who?
And Brennan’s not that bright. I say that for several reasons. He must’ve known people to get his positions. I read some papers he drafted on wikileaks...some classified work he had on a internet email account, my 20 yr olf son could’ve done better.
He is one vile dude, burn him at his own stake.
I Twitter Brennan every few days and tell him where to shove.
Very little is known about the early history of Brennan. Try it—do a search on him and his family. There is virtually nothing.
For a reason.
I believe what you say that he is not very bright, I also believe that he is just a really, really bad guy and valuable to the deep state for that reason.
Well, he is recused, dontcha know.
There are three theories I’ve head.
One has Southern Gentleman Sessions ducking behind the Recusal of Honor...too invested in his personal ethics to be effective, too vain to resign, and President Trump is afraid of an obstruction scandal or otherwise unwilling to fire him.
The second has Evil Sessions as swamp rat, planted by the evil deep state to ensure that DOJ can run wild under Rosenstein, leaving Trump vulnerable to Mueller. Once again, President Trump can’t or won’t fire him, or perhaps is too slow to figure Evil Sessions out.
The third has Sessions as “The Silent Executioner”, and he recused himself as part of Trump’s brilliant scheme to insulate Sessions from the coming exposure of the DOJ/State Department/Intelligence alphabet agencies/Obama/Clinton/deep state cabal, leaving him un-slimed and ready to prosecute the above list of criminals.
Since so far President Trump has had the smarts to outflank any number of political opponents, foreign and domestic, and he has certainly shown no lack of courage when it comes to moving embassies, walking back the Iran Nuclear giveaway, or in general calling a spade a spade, I’m not too keen on the first two, no matter what Sessions may or may not be.
There may be another explanation, but those are the three I know of.
