Fox News Bans Three Star General Thomas McInerney Who Said Torture ‘Worked’ on John McCain

A spokesperson for Fox News said they have banished the guest who said torture “worked” on Sen. John McCain, calling him a “songbird” for his five years spent a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

Air Force veteran and former military analyst Thomas McInerney caused massive outrage yesterday for his interview on Fox Business Network where he bashed McCain for his opposition to Gina Haspel‘s nomination as CIA Director. McCain opposes Haspel because of her history overseeing the use of enhanced interrogation techniques, and when McInerney spoke to Charles Payne about this, he bashed the Arizona senator.

“The fact is John McCain — [torture] worked on John. That’s why they call him ‘Songbird John.’ The fact is those methods can work, and they are effective,” McInerney said.

Payne didn’t challenge McInerney’s remarks during the interview, but he later claimed in a public statement that a producer was talking in his ear, so he couldn’t hear the objectionable comments while they were being made. Fox has also offered an apology to the McCain family.

The Arizona senator’s wife, Cindy McCain, took to Twitter to request that the network chooses its guests “more wisely.”

As for McInerney, who has a history of making controversial comments, network representatives said they won’t be booking him on Fox News ever again.

Non-disclosure agreement...... NDA about the 2-3 weeks of SERE training. Nothing super secret squirrel about it except the skills and data does save lives thus you must honor that NDA for the lives of those in harms way today.

That said ..... evolution of the information the Vietnam era POW’s helped form the training DOD gives today. Guessing Vietnam POW weren’t given that level or quality of training we got. They were trained with POW’s experiences from WWII / Korea pretty much . Captured , afraid, level of pain and the violence administered to arrive at the level of pain ..... every body breaks. Just try and not talk for at least 48 hours so OPLAN’s , Codes, SOP etcetera can be changed.

As much as I despise McCain can’t blame him for “Songbird” mode. Psychologically the training doesn’t get too real world as I knew my return plane ticket said 3 weeks. The real POW’s had no idea how long they’re real world ass whuppin would be......

But this polidiot Senator Juan has used up any respect due his service by his domestic enemy title as a polidiot. My opinion experience.

Hope yer well WD.

Not a surprise considering how McCain has gone out of his way to piss off so many people.

Those who might have held their tongue probably decided that he just didn’t deserve their silence.

I don’t think it would be Megan. Cindy is very, very, very liberal and I have no doubt would change to dem as soon as she got to DC. I actually like Megan, I thing she grows more conservative by the day, but that said the Gov needs to make a more solid choice for long term

I know Megan has been sounding more conservative, but so did her daddy when he was up for election. He could sound like a real solid conservative when he thought he needed to. Megan was not acting or talking very conservative until it was announced her father was dying. I am just not sure she is not just acting conservative as part of “campaigning” positioning herself to fill daddy’s shoes. I just don’t trust her at all.

Cindy might be interested, but she has not shown that she has wanted to be in the spotlight all these years so not sure she wants something like that. Maybe she does. Was she even living with him in D.C. before he became ill? I know I read somewhere that she was not, but no idea if that is true.

My problem with trusting McCain comes from my knowledge of him before and after his service years.

Every year but his service years, he was a disgusting excuse for a man. After his military service, he once again displayed that type of character.

These being my observations, I am faced with thinking the only time in his life he was a stand up guy was during his POW years. Then I note how he was credited with turning over our air routs. And then I am confronted by the fact he made so many propaganda spots.

I prefer not to talk about his military years. There’s plenty of reason to focus on his non-military years.

Thanks for the mention of those other POWS and their actions.

It is interesting Stockdale didn’t mention McCain.

>>>”Lou Dobbs...I think he is and has the best analysis on TV.”

I used to watch him faithfully. But he actually talks over his guests more than Hannity does and O’Reilly did. In a segment with a guest, Dobbs will bloviate for 85% of the segment, and guest is sitting there with an invisible bubble over his head, “Why am I wasting my time here?” Dobbs is much worse than Hannity in that way.

“I actually like Megan, I thing she grows more conservative by the day,”

Agree. If she would stick to her current stance on the issues, she’d be better than her father.

McCain abused the fact that his dad and grandfather were both admirals. He wasn’t booted out of the service solely because of his last name. His POW status was his only asset.

I would agree with that.

I would love to know what his cell-mates at the Hanoi Hilton thought of him.

How did General McInerney get fired from Fox News for telling the truth about McCain? The man was Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force and knows exactly what McCain did as a POW. Charles Payne and Fox News owe this REAL American war hero an apology.

“Bless McInerney for his service but he’s gone off the tracks lately.”

BS. He is one of the greatest general officers this country ever produced.
Songbird McCain is not fit to be mentioned in the same sentence with the general.

You’re right, he served with distinction, 407 combat missions during the Vietnam war.

But lately, something odd is going on with him. He has made a number of statements about a number of subjects that are very odd.

Bottom line there is no need to say anything derogatory about McCain.
