Fox Business guest says torture ‘worked’ on 'Songbird' John McCain
The Washington Post ^ | May 10, 2018 | Erik Wemple

During a discussion with host Charles Payne on Fox Business Network, retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Thomas McInerney was asked to opine on the criticism faced by Gina Haspel, who was grilled on Wednesday by the Senate Intelligence Committee in her pursuit of confirmation for the top job at the CIA. Having played a role in the CIA’s interrogation/torture program during the 2000s, Haspel waffled a bit as Democratic senators pushed her on the morality of the methods, which are no longer in force.

McInerney was riding with Trump on this one: “It’s very simple to me, Charles. If we have some terrorists and the possibility of five nuclear weapons going off in U.S. cities, I want to use any method that will determine where they are, when it’s going to happen and how we can nullify them,” he said. “I’m not interested in values. I’m interested in saving a million American lives. It is very simple. And that kabuki that went on yesterday on the Senate intel committee by the Democratic members is the [inaudible] set of questions I’ve ever heard. And it ought to ensure all our viewers — never elect a Democrat again. ”

Payne noted that McCain himself, a Republican, had declined to endorse Haspel and asked McInerney how lawmakers should evaluate the nominee. “Well, she can’t use it anymore because we’ve determined — the Congress — that it’s not legal. The fact is, is John McCain — it worked on John. That’s why they call him ‘Songbird John,’ ” said McInerney, who was appearing on the network as a guest, though he formerly served as a Fox News contributor.

Just refusing to treat his injuries could be construed as a form of “torture” but there’s no evidence of him ever being waterboarded but, then again, a radio disc jockey was, himself, waterboarded on the air to prove that it could be survived and wasn’t that bad.

I guess he won’t be invited to the funeral either.

What a shame for McCains family that he has to go out this way
Bitter angry vindictive and arousing so much contempt
Very poor legacy to leave his 7 children

Not that they’re in his thoughts
To the end, it’s about John McCain

Any dignity and respect at that funeral will be for the living
Not the dead

You cannot win wars by playing patty cake with one arm tied behind your back.

Shoot, you can’t even play patty cake that way.

Or... not.

Former POWs doubt the McCain torture story. ‘Specially since the “rescue” photo of McCain is so obviously faked.

Reagan concurred.

Ditto that!

From time to time I check out all 5 seasons from local library and binge.

“Chuck” did a great job on the music selected for the episodes - definitely off the beaten track and all tasty in content.

Then there was Sarah.....spittin’ image of my wife, literally the-girl-next-door, who lost a battle to breast cancer at 28. So when I watch, bitter sweet memories when “Sarah” is on screen.

I was not present at the Hanoi Hilton, to see what went on with John. But the rumors of his failings certainly carry SOME weight. Where there’s smoke, there’s GOT to be a little fire. What I DO have to go on is McCain’s conduct since returning to the States; as a man, as husband and a Senator. And using THOSE yardsticks, he’s a scumbag of the lowest order, in my estimation. I hope he gets right with God before he expires.

McCain lost 5 planes, 1 while training. He set the deck of his carrier on fire killing dozens of his fellow sailors. He got caught and spent the ware in the Hanoi Hilton. He was like Rambo, but against his own team.

He did not set the deck of his carrier on fire.

KSM gave us information not in his answers but BY WHAT LIES HE TOLD INVESTIGATORS...

And he wouldn't have told those lies without waterboarding?

I’m terribly sorry for your loss.

I was going through my second binge of Chuck and was in season 3 on Netflix when they pulled it. I think it’s available on Hulu though.

their primary motive is to end the torture, so they say what they think you want to hear, which might or might not be the truth.

That's why an interrogator should never bother to ask a question whose answer he cannot verify.
