Christians just can’t win, but we wouldn’t want to score a “win” with the world anyway. If we practice what we preach, we’re “wearing our religion on our sleeves”. If our human weaknesses become known, we’re hypocrites.
I wonder if the magnitude of the depravity of sodomite “pride” in their sexual practices has ever once occurred to George Will, and if it did, would he ever have the courage to say so? The question is rhetorical.
When I think what passes for “charismatic” (notoriety, most usually) in the current media climate, I’ll take boring.
Not me. I want a positive charismatic leader, especially because boring politicians tend to put the electorate asleep, when they need to become and remain vigilant.
But, to each his own......
Well, positive charisma is a different thing. But don’t forget that the antichrist will be the most charismatic ever.

“The Beast
In Revelation 13:5-8, the antichrist is referred to as “the beast:”
“Then the beast was allowed to speak great blasphemies against God. And he was given authority to do whatever he wanted for forty-two months. And he spoke terrible words of blasphemy against God, slandering his name and his dwelling—that is, those who dwell in heaven. And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation. And all the people who belong to this world worshiped the beast. They are the ones whose names were not written in the Book of Life before the world was made—the Book that belongs to the Lamb who was slaughtered.” (NLT)
We see “the beast” used for antichrist several times in the book of Revelation.
The antichrist will gain political power and spiritual authority over every nation on earth. He will most likely begin his rise to power as a very influential, charismatic, political or religious diplomat. He will rule the world government for 42 months. According to many eschatologists, this time frame is understood to be during the latter 3.5 years of the tribulation. During this period, the world will endure a time of unprecedented trouble”

It’s implied that he will be charismatic, as so many people will be willing to follow him, even to the point of literally worshipping him. To me, we can see the seeds for this being sown in the way mass media, such as never existed before in history, even now entices people to follow celebrities, as a herd of sheep follows a shepherd.
Unfortunately, what begins as voluntary worship by the majority ends being mandatory worship required of every single living soul.

It appears we can rule out any one who confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, which implies he will not be Christian.

So, it is not actually written that he is charismatic, but implied?
Rev 13 says he has the mouth of a lion (he speaks great blasphemies), has great authority (he has power over all the world), and he makes war with the saints. Could he not also be a ruthless dictator and achieve the same results?
My understanding from all which I’ve been taught all my life (Independent Baptist) is that he will begin by appearing benign and benevolent (and charismatic), but once he loses patience with any holdouts (for the most part, a large part of Jewish people and Muslims, and perhaps non-conformist types such as militia people, who certainly would oppose a global government), he will show his real face. This would be post-rapture, so there wouldn’t be many left with Biblical discernment (except the types who grew up in church but never accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior, or who went out of “tradition”, but now to these types any knowledge they retained, assuming they were ever even taught Bible prophecy, would come back to them. These would be very few, and not all of them, even at that point, would choose to follow God’s Word over this antichrist. And discernment will be more difficult.-
