Rudy Giuliani Says Trump Paid Back Stormy Daniels’ Hush Money, Rips ‘Pervert’ Comey
Daily Beast ^ | 3 May 2018 | Harry Siegal

Posted on 05/03/2018 4:00:27 AM PDT by Magnatron

In a remarkable appearance Wednesday, Rudy Giuliani said Donald Trump had indeed repaid the money used to buy Stormy Daniels’ silence about their affair, and that Trump had indeed fired then-FBI Director James Comey because Comey wouldn’t tell Trump that he wasn’t under investigation.

Both statements contradict the story the president himself and his White House have previously offered.

Giuliani’s appearance with Sean Hannity—one of the first by the former U.S. attorney since he joined Trump’s rapidly assembled new legal team, which has promised a tougher response to special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe—left the Fox News host and frequent Trump adviser and enabler openly stunned.

In an appearance stuffed with odd factual errors, like saying no president had ever before been subpoenaed, and sweeping claims about “criminal” Hillary Clinton and “disgraceful liar” and “pervert” James Comey, Giuliani flat out said Trump had paid back the money shelled out to buy the porn star’s silence, and that there was no problem there.

“But why lie to begin with? That airplane denial is now Trump’s wagging finger moment.”

No it is not. I would hope that you would have more intelligence on how this works.

I wrote my comment about payment before watching the news this morning in which Rudy explained it was for a retainer. I had also not seen President’s twitter statement.

“Sorry but Giuliani does not look well and appeared a bit drunk during that interview. Trump has to be careful trusting this guy.”

I am sorry. I watched the whole interview and I thought Rudy came across very well. I was riveted watching it. IMHO President Trump is in very good hands.

I found out the retainer explanation after I posted when Rudy was on TV explaining.

Didn’t say it wasn’t illegal. My statement was Pres saying he didn’t know about the payment which after I posted my comment it came out the reason for payment was for retainer. I didn’t see President’s twitter until after I posted.

Good luck proving the money WAS campaign funds, Bobby.

The problem is the FEC says:

"If any person, including a relative or friend of the candidate, gives or loans the candidate money in connection with his or her campaign, the funds are not considered personal funds of the candidate even if they are given to the candidate directly. Instead, the gift or loan is considered a contribution from the donor to the campaign subject to the per-election limit and reportable by the campaign."

Rudy said Cohen went ahead and paid Stormy because it was a critical point in the campaign.

If deemed to be campaign related then the money should have been declared a campaign contribution.

It doesn't look like Rudy did Trump any favors here.

Get out of your real world wallet. This is a whole other ball game.

Trump could dispose of $5,000,000 a day for a year and still be a billionaire. $130k is peanuts. He, like pretty much all fat cats, pays attorneys to deal with nuisance cases and keep him out of it. Cohen had Stormy’s signature on the NDA but not Trump. Trump was very likely never told about the payment. If he knew anything, Cohen would have said “I took care of it.” I doubt he knew. Unless it is major, he doesn’t have time for nonsense. Attorneys submit their expense reports, and Trump’s accountants reimburse their expenses.

Can we use her real name instead or or at least beside her porno name of ‘Stormy’?

My favorite was from another Freeper post:

Spermy Daniels

Thank you for reassessing after receiving additional information. Very few people take the time to do what you just did.

Get the “bad” news out there, then move on. Clearly they know Mueller is investigating this as a campaign finance violation and they want to get ahead of that.

By this time, everybody pretty much knows who Trump is, warts and all, this won’t move the needle a bit.

Yep, and I don't think this is about his public perception, they are heading Mueller off at the pass. Notice the FEC Chairman coming out today (timed) also concurring this is not a campaign finance issue. They pulled this rug out from under Mueller.

This reply made perfect sense to me: DJT paid his lawyer, via the fixed retainer fee or for his expenses plus the retainer fee. This is what lawyers for a client do, is this hard

Exactly another media manufactured controversy.

How about the focus be on the Gov. 'slush' fund that settles sexual harassment cases in the legislative branch!.... unlimited and funded by taxpayers!.......The money comes from a special U.S. Treasury fund – and the payouts are kept quiet.... That means, those found to be at fault are publicly shielded and don’t have to pay a penny out of pocket for settlement costs..........between 1997 and 2014, $15.2 million was paid out to 235 claimants!........Congress using tax dollars for this fund is just another example of how deep the DC sewer is!

Ex:....Democrat Representative Used $220K of Tax Payer Money For Sexual Harassment Settlement

That may have been Cohen’s thinking (hearsay from Rudy at this point), but he had clear ability to go ahead and pay stuff and get reimbursed later without involving the boss.

No doubt, but if he did it to help Trump's chances in the campaign then it probably needed to be reported.
