Simpson testified that a Republican donor hired GPS in Sept or Oct 2015 to do opposition research in connection with the primaries. However he never said it had anything to do with the Trump dossier. That was an invention of the media and the Democrats who were anxious to deflect attention from themselves. In fact if you actually read the GPS dossier you realize that it cannot possibly have had anything to do with GOP oppo research during the primaries. Each entry is dated and refers back to conversations that Steele supposedly had with Russians just days earlier. The first entry is dated at the end of June 2016. Thus the GPS dossier does not even begin until the primaries were over 8 or 9 months after the GOP donor supposedly hired them to do oppo research for the primaries.

Of course the corrupt prick would say that. He’s already trying to set up a “no intent” defense.

“Hey, if I didn’t know it was leaking, how could I have an intent to leak?”

So giving it is not leaking it. What the meaning of is is.

“When I use the word leak,” Comey said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less.”

A semantic and circular argument for sure.

Here's my take on it -- FWIW.

Of course, Comey's memo was "unclassified". It was unclassified because decided not to classify it; and he didn't show it to anyone else, who could have classified it, before he leaked it.

However, this isn't about the memo per se. It's about the contents of that memo, not the artifact called "the memo". Comey divulged the substance (he asserts) of private conversation with the President. By default, shouldn't one assume that all such conversations are "classified", unless deemed otherwise by the POTUS?

Comey should have checked, in advance, whether the President considered the substance of the conversation to be classified information. His failure to do so, does not make it right -- even if there isn't a classification stamp in the corner of the memo somewhere.

They weren’t your memos to begin with. You might have written them, but you wrote them in your official capacity as Director, and the memos were regarding official duties you carried out. Once you put them down on paper as Director of the FBI, they became the property of the FBI. And since you included classified information in some of those memos, your sharing it with individuals outside of the FBI was illegal. I hope you hang for the scumbag that you are.

I watched the Comey “interview” on Fox today.

I am certain the only reason he agreed to go on Fox is that Fox agreed to give him the questions in advance. Bret Baier rattled off questions, and Comey fired back pre-rehearsed weasel-worded answers, too quickly to believe he didn’t know what was going to be asked. He even jumped the gun and started answering a question before Baier asked it. Comey also looked down at notes very quickly, like they had been scrolled to the precise spot on his monitor.

Fox also had taped highlights cued up at the proper times, and Comey was immediately familiar with the clips, and yes, quickly fired back answers that sounded like they were written by his lawyer. He used lots of “to my recollection” caveats, and vague date ranges to muddy the waters.

Baier also held up Comey’s book up twice while announcing its title, and used the same phrase to describe the book as a huge success, like he was given the line to parrot as another condition of the interview.

Even with all that help, Comey still came off as an arrogant prick that was lying his ass off to save his own skin.

I saw an interview with him where he calls himself a leaker, and seemed proud of it. I guess his legal team told him to deny being a leaker.

Comey's notes are "work product", created in the course of doing his government job.

There is no such thing as "private recollections" in this case.

In the course of Comey's departure he sign a letter stating he turned over all work product and retained NO work product.

Violating that affidavit is a FELONY!!!!

Useless interview. Guess Brett Baer wanted to help Comey promote his book.
